About the Rubella thing - should I got tell my doc we're thinking of starting trying for a baby and could they test my blood and see if im immune??? We were given the injection 13-14yrs ago at school cos of an increase in rubella or some reason like that, but not sure if that's a guaranteed protection??????0

Evening all..
Caz - big hugs!! I've just had a Crunchie.. got it out of the vending machine at work earlier and thought of you!
Rubella - I asked my GP if I could be tested for immunity when I was thinking about coming off the Pill - with my fear of needles, it's quite plusible that I might have refused a booster somewhere along the line - but they said there was no need and they would just check onces I was pregnant. They said the results were fine when I got all the blood results at the hospital a few weeks ago tho
Mat leave - I'm anticipating several phone calls, emails and texts a week from my manager for a while. I get it everytime I'm on holiday so why should it be any different if I'm just sat around at home waiting for baby to arrive?!
MIL is here right now.. really wish OH had told me she was coming - I would have tidied up! The house is an absolute pigsty!
I'm fed up of eating every hour.. Am going to make some twink's hobnobs tonight so I can just have a few of those at a time tomorrow. Got to make a batch for SIL too.0 -

I think this is going to be a bit controversial...Skinty this is what I tried to describe http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Delight-Inc-Supreme-Snuggle/dp/B000BM8FXG%3FSubscriptionId%3D14H876SFAKFS0EHBYQ02%26tag%3Dhubpages-20%26linkCode%3Dsp1%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB000BM8FXG
sorry if its no use.
Have to say I think ur best getting the cat out of your bedroom now as its more likely to get jealous of baby went it arrives if you don't (and on a more personal note yukI don't 'do' animals in the house esp upstairs) Maybe you'll find a second hand dropside crib somewhere tho?
No way is my cat being barred from the bedroom. Not ever. She is clean and small and has always been able to go wherever she wants in the house (except on tables and worksurfaces, that IS yuk). I'm sure she will get jealous, she did when OH and I got together, but now she goes to him more than she does to me! I expect her to turn to him whent he baby comes to be honest, she's not so fussed on me at the moment anyway. Probably can smell the PG hormones. She definitely knew when I was miscarrying last time and refused to come near me at all.AF I have to say my first thought about that was "well it IS the Sun..."
However it was closely followed by "how utterly selfish of them!" - sorry but even IF the pregnancy is successful then what kind of a life is that child/children going to have? Chances are it won't live long due to the strain on the heart and organs but SHOULD it make it then it will always be viewed as a "freak"... who could knowingly do that to a baby? Sorry but I think it's plain selfish and cruel of them...
But Mrs T, the alternative is to murder the babies. How is that any better? (Told you this would be controversial!) It's quite possible the Pg will end soon, or that the babies will die soon after birth, but even if they don't, it doesn;t mean they have less right to life than non "freaks" (your word, most definitely not mine).
If I were in the same position I would do exactly what they are doing. It's why I didn;t want the nuchal testing (although Oh insisted) and whatever the 20-week scan shows up I would never, ever, abort my child. I just could not live with myself, so I totally understand where this couple are coming from.
And at the risk of opening a huge can of worms, why should babies have to be 'perfect' to be deserving of life? I do find it hard to believe you think it is better to kill them than let nature take its course. I guess we have different views on when a baby becomes a life in its own right?
And on a non-controversial topic: is it OK and normal to have quite sharp achy pains in the lower abdomen? Is it my muscles stretching as the baby grows?
And my lower back is killing meBeing Pg is really not a picnic is it?
Oh, and also huge hugs to Bumble and Elastigirl over your bleeding, and I hope everything works out OK, but I agree Elastigirl, you do just 'know'. Caz, im thinking of you at the minute, really hope things start to improve...starting with bump staying put for a bit!!
AF, you really need to slow down a bit, bless you. And you couldnt be doing anything more important than looking after your baby x
Those with bleeding, I really hope the scans bring you good news tomorrow. I know exactly how you feel as I started bleeding at 6 weeks and sill am and im 15 weeks now. It does stop now and again for a few days but then starts again.
We're trying to start to get organised for this baby. We're re decorating the living room and will then start on babies room but that will probably be march or so..
Im sure i had something else to reply to but cant remember now xDS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -

I hope so, cos I'm getting them! It's like the crampy, "something's going on in there" feeling I had at about 6-7 weeks but not quite so strong. I figured it was the "moving up" thing and everything was normal. I've got enough sickness and tiredness not to worry about it being anything else0 -
Skintchick - have to say, am with you on the cat thing. My cat (Beans, that's where my user name came from, well before I found out I was expecting twins!) will be free to still go round the house. She does sleep in our room once a week on our bed as a "treat". Will just have to see how she reacts but certainly won't be kicking her out of the house. I am also a firm believer in pets help build resistance to germs - can't be doing with bacterical squirts for this that and the other - just keep clean and tidy!
xProud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -
Oh no, i'm the opposite, my dog is already banned from coming upstairs now, I cant stand the thought of her being in my bed at it is, and especially if a new born baby might be in it ewwwww.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
