Elle - ok - another paternity leave question if you don't mind. DH has to turn his holiday time in tonight at work. He booked the week off for holiday that I am due - we don't figure I will have had the baby yet - I always go overdue! But we wanted him to be home that last week so I can get as much rest as possible and am not lifting DS constantly and we can spend a little extra quality time with DS before I have this baby. So..... what happens with paternity leave if I have the baby that week - can he then take 2 wks off following that since the holiday was prebooked since January and not intended to be in place of paternity leave?

I believe so - my understanding is that paternity leave can't begin until the baby is born anyway. Remember, he needs to get his SPP leave application in on time (before the 15th week before the baby is born).

We have had guys request that their leave date is moved back or forward depending on if the baby arrived late or early.

Triggles re when you can take paternity leave:

You can choose to start the leave:
    • on the day the baby's born
    • a number of days or weeks after the baby's born
    • from a specific date after the first day of the week in which the baby's expected to be born
So yes he can start his paternity leave after his annual leave finishes :)

    I know this one too!
yes he can, pat leave has to be taken within a certain amount of time of the birth but I think its 6 weeks, its deff more than 4 so that would come into the timeframe (unless its changed recently without me knowing)

edit: just like busses 3 come along at once :D

Nope, I've excelled myself and thrown up four times today.. :( First one was rather a surprise - usually I sort of wander into the bathroom, in a "am I / aren't I?" mood but this morning it suddenly hit me and had to run! I felt perfectly fine two mins before and two mins after... most bizarre!

I've eaten so much junk today - crisps, biscuits, doughnuts, plus toast and honey (8 pieces at last count!) and a portion of grapes.. Steak, veg and suet pudding thing in the oven now but half an hour to wait.. *bangs knife and fork on table like a hungry toddler*

Can't wait until this bit is over.. please let it only last another few weeks max!! :( It's not the sickness that bothers me as such, it's the nausea and not being able to do anything other than sit on the sofa.

I was talking to my colleagues and said I will be taking my pill religiously after this one is born as I don't want to have another one so close and have to deal with feeling crappy plus having a little one to look after. I don't know how you and Caz (and everyone else!) do it! :( Total respect for those on their second or more!

I was tough I won't deny it! poor Chris hardly saw daylight n fresh air for a while :o but I'm not as bad as my mate who had her 2nd in sept (smaller age gap than bump n chris) and has already planned the 3rd! I'll be done after this one, well done with being pregnant anyway lol hopefully I'll be fostering some more kiddies when bump is at school :D I love looking after sproglets!!
