  • is it true you are less fertile when BF?

I have heard that BF stops you from OV, although I don't think it's that reliable!
  • you have to be feeding at specific timings, rather than feeding on demand for BF to be reliable as contraception, i dont think i would ever trust that though, and i wouldnt be able to keep waking my baby for feeding

My sister thought she couldn't get pregnant while BF - that's why she had two babies just over a year apart. :rotfl: I think it messes or delays your ovulation, but that just means you have no idea when you could get pregnant.

DH suggested that we simply let nature take its course and if we get pregnant after we have this one, then we get pregnant. I'm fine with that. I think the chances are slim anyway (due to our age) but hey, if it happens, I'd be fine with it.

AM - we have a 20 year gap - :rotfl: Although I'm certainly not planning to be ttc in 5 years time either.

My sister's sister in law will have an 18 year age gap when she has her son in April, but fair play to you though x

  • I think it is going to have to be the mini-pill for me. Either that or the coil  but I really don't need anything to make my periods heavier

We haven't decided whether we might have another but if we do it will be reasonably soon afterwards (hubby is 42).

Midwife appointment went well - we aren't worrying about writing a full birth plan until we have been to parentcraft classes (start next week!) but she did answer some of my questions.

Hope everyone is well and Happy New Year to all.
I managed to get us tickets to Jongleurs in Brum so we are off for a giggle and a meal there.

You can have the mini pill and the depo jab whilst breastfeeding, once its established and you have a good supply you can go onto the normal pill. Breastfeeding can work as a contraceptive but not so much with a western lifestyle. You have to be feeding regularly through the day and night approx every 2 hours (but timing is variable) it can delay the return of your periods but not neccesarily ovulation... It's possible to ovulate without a period (I've experienced this, how about you FG? lol)

I just ventured into the cupboard in the bedroom and wished I hadn't... There is a very precarious giant mountain of stuff piled to one side... Sure it wasn't there last time I looked in... Might have to talk to hubby!! On the plus side, I just filled a bin bag with rubbish and can now see considerably more of my bedroom floor... On the not so plus side... 3 ikea blue bags of washing are waiting to be washed! Funny thing about clothes not fitting... You're not so bothered about getting them back through the wash!

Krystal - yup, I used to ovulate without periods. Makes it a bit tricky when trying to concieve!

My SIL thought she couldn't get pregnant whilst breastfeeding, so there is only a small gap between her two (about a year). Other SIL thought it would take a while to concieve number two, but he is due when her first is 18 months!

I think 5 years is a good age gap... And I don't enjoy being pregnant... So I really do think by 35 we'll know if we want anymore... Although if this one is a girl I know my lovely hubby will be wanting to try again... Male pride or something...

    Hello all,

Having another lazy day at home recovering from the dreaded lurgy (ie the flu).

We went to mothercare yesterday to play with pushchairs. OH managed to injure himself on just about every one trying to fold it or put it up. We eventually found one he could fold without problems and I loved it too!!

Although it was advertised as £230 online, it was still £280 in store, so I came home and ordered it. I also found a 10% code + got free delivery + 6% on quidco, so felt very pleased with myself. Cant wait to play with it now!!
