Searching: The Association of Radical Midwives site is very helpful in general in particular this article about "foods to avoid in pregnancy" http://www.radmid.demon.co.uk/dietarydogma.htm
I'm a laid back kinda gal and (thank god) haven't experienced a miscarriage so I take most advice on foods with a pinch of salt, i have peanuts, rare steaks and runny eggs some may say eek  but I feel the risk is so low its not worth being deprived

I hadn't really thought about it yet but a friend seemed very keen to know earlier and was asking me.. does anyone know of anyone who's actually had a c-section because of being too slim (hip-wise I assume) to give birth naturally?

Can't say I'm that keen - it's the cutting of my skin and not driving for weeks afterward that get me! I'm all for giving it a bash naturally, but then again I don't fancy any of this "getting stuck halfway out" business either!

Don't think I qualify for being too thin to give birth naturally (Although I'm only 5'3") but I had a c-section with DD. She was back to back and didn't manage to turn all of the way round during my 5-day labour, so got stuck. A section was the last thing I wanted but wasn't actually as bad as I imagined. I can see why celebrities opt for them, all very convenient. I just hated the 45 mins while they stitched me up (I was compus mentus enough to ask the surgeon if he was doing embroidery!) but it meant that OH got to spend some precious time with her right at the start.

I was driving after 5 weeks but the only thing I really struggled with was carrying her in her car seat. I had to get someone to carry her to and from the car in it. I won't be opting for a section this time unless I absolutely have to, but won't be devastated if that's where we end up.

    HTH?

I've been having peanut butter but then read up and as DD has eczema (only baby eczema which she is now growing out of) I've had to stop. I ate it loads in my last pregnancy, although don't feel that this is the reason she had skin problems. It's just one of those things - at least that's what the consultant told me!

The way i see it is the odds are stacked for bump to have hayfever as me, Oh,BIL, my dad and sis all have it plus BIL has very mild Asthma and me, DS, my sis n dad all have eczema amongst various other things  so me indulging in a pb&j sandwich every couple of weeks isn't going to make much of a difference (thats my logic anyway)
I'd avoid it completely if it caused babies with three legs or something like that :A
