  • Well, I had chips, and now I feel really, really sick. Just don't have the space for food. Never had a problem eating before! First time for everything I suppose.

12 week appointment here only took about 25 minutes - scan and bloods.

I'm off to bed now, not slept well the past two nights so I expect I'll sleep in till about 3pm tomorrow!

    Night ladies :)

The first scan (when I was about 6wks) I drank 3/4 of a large glass of juice and they told me my bladder was too full! When I went back (after the m'c) I didn't bother drinking anything, thinking they'd have to do another internal but they did the tummy scan and told me they could see what they needed to see.

When I went four weeks ago (and told I was measuring 5+3), I had a cuppa, went to the loo just before leaving the house then had the scan about 45mins later and they said it was just right.

I think I have a nervous system/bladder and anything I drink just goes straight through me! :D

With ds1 and 2 I got told my bladder was too full, they wanted me to go the loo and do a half wee!!!!! This time for my 20wk scan I didn't drink anything except a cuppa in the morning and got told I had an empty bladder but they could see everything clearly so it was fine.
I have to go back for a scan in January and she gave me a sheet with instructions on and told me to follow it exactly

I am jealous of all those that get all Christmas and new year off work too, what a lovely break. I am lucky that work have juggled things about a bit for me so I only have to work Tuesday next week. I am the only one with young kiddies, so they didn't want me to be working Christmas Eve. New Years week I am in Mon - Wed though.

Can you believe it is school holidays now and even though I let the boys stay up later last night they still go up at 7am, I told them they are going to bed the same time as school nights if they aren't going to have a lie in :( I have always found this with my two though.....My mum used to say I was cruel not letting them stay up really late in holidays etc. apparantly when we were little we used to stay up till 10-11pm and have a nice lie in till 9-10am, Well mine have never, ever done that! No matter what time they go to bed they are awake between 6.30-7.30am :wall: They are now at ages where I can leave them down on their own for an hour or so if I want to go back to bed for a snooze, but they only end up arguing if there is no-one down to referee them

Well I think that is enough rambling for one post...

  • morning all.... I had millions of vivid dreams again last night. All related to a new massive supermarket (and I mean MASSIVE - there were people driving round it in cars!). In one I got new boots, and was very disappointed when I woke up and it wasn't real. And another one lots of people got shut in it, and couldn't get out without killing a vampire. And I didn't have cheese before I went to bed or anything!

Morning Mel! I'm up early today, I think Chris was excited coz he knew Daddy would be here when he got up (he's been working away for a bit)
thats nice that work made sure you had time with the kids at Christmas, my "poor" MIL is working Xmas eve, day, boxing day, new yrs eve n new years day! I old her it was karma coz she'd had 4 or 5 holidays this year :rotfl:
I don't get holidays coz my job is SAHM :D but when I was working we'd usually finish on Christmas eve :( but not between xmas n new yrs
My sis isn't actually in work on Christmas day but she's on call until 8am so she has to stay at home and then drive down here on Christmas morning, I hope none of her patients need her in the night

I do feel for those that have to work over the holidays. I'm a SAHM, so don't work (well, outside the home!) during that time, but DH luckily got to take off from today until next Saturday, so we were thrilled! He doesn't often have time off, so this is ideal. He's off into town this morning to pick up Christmas gifts for me, SIL, and apparently a present for me from DS.

My stomach is being horribly uncooperative this morning. A piece of toast and half a cup of tea and I feel horrible. I think when DS takes his nap, I may take one.

I hate the whole "have your bladder full for the scan" thing. If I drink liquids ahead of time, they're always late - and I am just not good at waiting with a full bladder. I usually show up 15 minutes early for the appointment and start sipping liquids then, so I don't end up dancing about the waiting room trying to keep from using the toilet.

That reminds me Triggles, after my scan the scanner who was also a MW said "there you go you can empty that bladder now" and then preceded to lecture me for about 15mins! good job I didn't sneeze coz they would of needed a mop!

I remember when I was about 10 I had to had a catheter inserted into bladder and bladder filled with fluid so they could check it due to some ongoing bladder and kidney problems. Nurse stood there SQUEEZING the fluid bag saying "hmmm, her bladder should hold more than that..." while I was screaming on the table. Consultant said my bladder is a bit smaller than normal. Great - explains why I'm always running to the toilet. But also why I won't drink tons before a scan.

Sami - just curious - what in the world was she lecturing you on that couldn't wait til after you'd used the toilet?

She lectured me because I'd declined the booking bloods, worst bit was she really scared me I was nearly crying when I saw the proper MW afterwards only to be told that everything she'd said was lies! Thinking about it now I think I'll send a letter of complaint coz I have her name as she wrote on my notes, I think she mustn't have actually worked on delivery/community for a while but still no excuse for giving false info.

I've just had bad news :( sis has just rang to say don't bring chris round coz she's at the hosp with mum n dad. Dad was taken in by ambulance early this morning with breathing problems! He's been at home with pleurisy but had breathing trouble so mum called Dr and they said to get ambulance. I'm now waiting to find out what happens, he's had an x-ray and blood tests and is on oxygen coz his o2 sat was low but sis reckons he'll be in over night on IV antibiotics for pneumonia (She knows a bit about it being a physio she works with peeps with chest probs)
