Didn't manage to sell anything when I tried a few months ago but with more and more people getting !!!!ed off with ebay I might try again. Can't do any harm!

    Hi

I starting listing on http://ibootsale.co.uk a week ago and have already sold 10 items. It’s free to list and get a pitch at the moment and no final sale fees. I guess this will not last long though as it seems that quite a few others have joined in the past week.

Initially you get a pitch where you can list 25 items for free for 90 days. If your pitch is full you can request an extension for a further 25 items free and then yor items are extended to 180 days, it seems you can do this over and over at the moment for free.

This is a completely UK site and seems very up and coming and getting very popular so I guess the free listing and extensions will go out the door at some point.

I’ve also bought a couple of items at bargain prices from sellers offering a haggle – that is they put a price in their listing and say they are willing to haggle and you settle on a price.

This is definitely one to watch, its working for me so far, :j and being UK based unlike ebay, ebid, cqout etc. you are guaranteed only items from UK sellers and your listings do not disapear into a black hole of so called items located in the UK but the seller is register in Hong Kong, China etc. and requesting extornationate shipping charges.

I would put links to my listings on ibootsale.co.uk here but I don’t think it’s allowed!!!

Looks like Ebay maybe in for a tough year. We recently had an article in the local paper in the Cumbria/Lancs/Borders area about a new website.

    http://www.news-and-star.co.uk/news/1.84141

Lots of local interest - not very good if you live outside the area, but any alternative is a good one.

The boot sale idea is very different and just might catch the imagination of the public.

It's nice to see people setting up local enterprises, however I don't think ebay need worry about competition in Cumbria quite yet! basically it looks more like a freecycle site with payments instead of freebies.

Do we now assume that the 419 scammers have found that site as well

Amazing how gullible they think we all are isn't it?

I don`t think he is trying to take on fleebay, just saving people time and effort in travelling. I went down to the south to collect a car and when I got there it was a wreck!

Managed to get the price of my travel from him but still cost me a day of my time.

Good luck to him - but NO Ebay won`t be quaking just yet- maybe they will if enough smaller/alternative sites start up.

It’s an unfortunate fact of life these days – scammers will always hone in on sites where there are a number of people selling items. All we can do is to keep vigilant and not fall into their traps.

As yet (touch wood!!!) I’ve not had any problems on http://ibootsale.co.uk as yet, no dodgy emails and best of all no spam in my inbox on the address set up especially for it.
