Woolies - closing down sale tomorrow (11/12/08)

Happened to be in the area and popped into the Crouch End branch. Right at the back they had a couple of faux suede beanbag cubes and a faux leather beanbag seat, both in cream. Picked up the faux leather one and it was only £5. The suede ones were £7. Very happy indeed. :T
Swung over to the Stoke Newington branch just to be nosey. It looked like it had been hijacked, robbed and looted. Pitiful. Glad I went on the first Friday it was announced because I got a double Parker pen set in pink with cartridges for £3.80. WHSmiths are currently trying to sell the same thing for £8 - without the 5+1 cartridges and with a flimsy pink pouch instead.
Bye bye Woolies. Along with Fine Fayre and Tandy, another integral part of my childhood is about to disappear.OGB - Queen of Bling baby...:A0 -

Yes, that's how shops operate.0 -

Very good offers on at the moment, I had a Gracco car seat/booster seat for £12! as there is 60% off all prams, etc!
Also childrens books have been reduced again, most old books are just 50p and the musical books from £1! I got a Disney Princess one for 60p!
I do get extra discount (cause im staff!!) but they are really cheap anyway, just gotta look!!
Have fun shopping, im sure there is lots more to come!Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
as much as i feel sorry for the staff, i was really pee'd off today when one of the women workers went mental because someone knocked over some packets of seeds and didn't pick them up. it makes me angry too and i picked loads of clothes up that people just left on the floor, but her anger was aimed at everyone who was near and i didn't appreciate her 'that's it, just leave them on the floor, i'll pick them up' and her 'i've had enough of this', when i worked in a shop, we saw it as part of our job to tidy shelves, pick things up from the floor etc, after all, they are being paid to work!

As much as I can understand how this would annoy you, imagine how you'd feel if you were having to work in a business knowing within a week or so, you wouldn't have a job. I'm pretty sure silly things like knocked items from shelves happen frequently, and shop assistants don't worry about it, but this person was probably pretty worried about things, and we all know how such silly things can be the most upsetting when big worries are on the horizon...Everybody dies, but not everyone truly lives0 -
I really need a double pram (well, tandem really) I can but pray that my local store gets one in before they shut on the 27th! they had a load of bikes and kids beds delivered last week, they never sell them usually, they were stacked at the front of the store and went very quickly.
they has a Disney cars bed for about £40 instead of £100ish they normally are, think the pink ones must have been disney princess or something.
If I wasnt trying to push a pram and deal with a toddler running riot, I'd have grabbed a cars one!0 -

Jetty, the thing is they are NOT being paid to work. They have been told they might end up having to claim through the administrators once the store is closed down. Which could take months! I was there the other day and all the chavs where in there throwing things over their shoulders they did not like and trying to rob what they could. So think what these poor staff members are going through on top of the fact they might have no job for Christmas and no money!0 -

That doesn't give them the right to treat customers like that, no matter what the customer did. The customer could have made a complaint to the manager and the staff member could have found themselves out of the door quicker than they thought, plus they would forfeit any possible redundancy payment that they may have been entitled too.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

I got a cover for a nokia 3410 (was a phone about 6/7 or more years ago?) anyways my mother in law still has hers so for 49p it will brighten it up!
quite a few chargers, covers etc for obsolete phones, probably will go to a wholesalers then onto ebay where people can actually search for what they want.
Oh and loads and loads (a whole ailse!) of fans, but none seemed to be selling.0
