yeh right- how did you manage that then?????Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."
FEB challenge £128/£270 balance £142
£2 saving club £1400 -
seems to me its some kind of big publicity scam for the company as like so many have said already the supposable 'NEW SALE SALE' (that hit the news yesterday) is no different to the crap '10% of everything tacky (but is upto 50% off - stuff that no one needs) ' they started last week. Funny thing you see people going mad for it all as theres been so much hype!!! Wow 10% off the worse expensive films, theres a bargain!
So many ppl will be getting 'Worth it' products this year for xmas like a pink stereo system LOL!0 -
I went to the Sheffield Parkway (Catcliffe) Big W store this morning. Usually opens at 9, but today was 9.15 - absolutely rubbish!! Waste of time!
There was a huge queue at 9am, so I nipped in Morrison's next door to keep warm! At 9.15 everyone had gone in.
The reductions were rubbish, as everyone on here is saying.
I saw Jamie Oliver for DS for £30 and then 10% off. Sainsburys are doing it for £25 and you can buy it online for £17!!!
Saw a paper cutter for £4.99 with 10% off - I bought the same think in Poundland.
What a load of rubbish and a con - even on Radio 1 news this morning it said it was a closing down sale. Everyone was pushing empty trolleys around.
(I have only just got home and cannot use the internet at work!)
Your plight has almost made me shed a tear. I wouldn't wish such suffering on anybody.
You must be absolutely devastated after ALL that. I hope it hasn't ruined the festive season for you.
You'll be in my prayers tonight, that's for definite.0 -
Some people seem to have a misconception of how closing down sales work. You start of by making mainly 10 to 20% reductions, perhaps with a few greater reductions, and sell as much as you can, so it's the same as the existing sale. As time moves on and you still need to get rid of stock those reductions increase. When MVC closed down they did exactly this. In the last two weeks most things were at least 50% off and in the last day it was up to 95% for many items.
The administrators need to get as much money as possible to pay creditors so starting off at 50% off everything is not a good strategy. Judging by the queues the strategy is working and if they can get rid of a large amount of stock at 10-30% off it's a masterstroke of strategy and hype.0 -
Same Thing in Brighton. The queues were ridiculous and all people seemed to be buying was the xmas chocolate boxes. The games are more expensive after discount than across the road at game so i walked out buying nothing.:smileyhea Getting married on, 05/06/10 :smileyhea0

The masses of people clutching the selection boxes made me laugh- They are actually cheaper at the Co-Op which is unheard of!!!0
