Does this mean EVERYTHING will be going cheap?

Like birds in a cage! :easter:

But they are making people believe there are more and bigger reductions today and thats not so.

Lol they're making you feel like a good business has been lost. (full stop there not wanting to start an argument).

But my point was going to be that, those who queue to get in are probably regular or occasional shoppers at Woolworths so they will find it cheap with UNBELIEVABLELY MASSIVE reductions and those who just stroll in to look for a bargin will probably be those who shop online and will find that the price is still far from competitive.

Apparently it will be closing down posters up tomorrow acc to lunchtime news.

Our one has closing down posters up already. Nothing in there that was any different to last week. I picked up some A4 lined paper at 35p, some kids xmas lap trays for £1.20, pink gardening set for £3.60. Stuff I got was cheap but had I known I wouldn't of made a special effort to get there.
  • I made a special journey to a big one today, and was quite chuffed with my bargains - a 14" girls disney bike, with a doll carrier on the back, all the frills and a big tiara on the front, this had a price of £69.00 but scanned at £50, then said I had saved a further £22. making it £28!! my friend just bought a plain pink bike from halfords same size for £60.
I had a few other bargains in toys and home furnishings.
im certantly pleased with my bargains, and dont think woolies are trying to deceive people.
    just my opionion.
3 wonderfull kids :female::female::male:, 1 fab hubby  , 2 beautifull cats and 1 very large dog = my family!

I think Woollies ought to have charged shoppers a quid entrance fee this morning, and should do so on a daily basis until they close - with monies collected going to the loyal staff who work there and who will shortly be out of a job.

I'm sure the bargain hunters on here, who were desperate to get through the doors as soon as it opened this morning, would have been more than happy to donate to such a worthy cause.

    Wouldn't you? :D
  • woolworths sale is still the same as last week all entertainment 10 % 20% of home goods 50%of gifts and 30 % of deccies my daughter works in one of the stores
they still do not know how much work is left as they are not telling them much but dont go in thinking that its 50% of all stock hope this helps emma
Dont say i did not warn you that there was no change as my daughter and my sister both work in the store i will keep you updated as much as i can but looks like some stores will close quicker than others i reckon they have work up until xmas eve as for the deliveries there are more than 50 million stock in wharehouse in london but not paying delivery men to bring it to glasgow will keep you updated i got a bargain last week

Yes I agree it is not right. They are reporting what Deloitte are telling them. Maybe they have a deal with Mr Murdoch?

More likely its because they're reporting live from outside stores that say 50% off in huge font. You can hardly expect the media to start telling viewers which items are cheapest. :p
  • I went to my local eastcote woolies when it closed and got loads of bargins and saved around £150 that was beginning of nov. but the one in Ruislip today apparently had hardley anything off.
    HOW MUCH ?
  • Been in there to day got there just as they opened the doors with about 30 others to find things were not really cheap but, 10% here 30% there and in some cases they were cheaper still even with the discounted price in wilkinsons. really feel a bit silly for beleaving the hyp in the press.

Hmm well I couldn't resist popping down to see if Woolies lived up to the hype of this "sale" and blow me backwards, was I fcukers like..... For the first time EVER I was really disappointed to see that stuff that was previously in the sale, no longer was and was back up to full price with a measly 10% off which worked out less than the price it was originally in the sale for last week...

Apart from a few carp gadgets that were reduced to a few £, there wasn't much more there to have!!! A lot of the toys were cheaper in Wilkos even after the discount!!! A lot of the home ware stuff is cheaper in places like wilkos and tescos and the In the Night Garden pjs work out at £6 odd so again they are much cheaper in somewhere like Home Bargains or B&M Bargains where they are only £3.99 anyway.

Everyone was packed in so tightly, even the air was becoming thin!!! And the poor staff were getting nothing but abuse :( Just remember if you do go that it is YOUR decision and should not be down to the poor staff to prioritise you in case you kick off... ;)
