  • I went to the Lakeside branch this morning. i was the 7th person there, by the time the store opened at 10am around 600 to 700 people must of been outside the store. it was heaving. The as the shutters went up One lady decided she had to get in the store first so pushed a pram with toddle out of the way ut still couldnt get in so she climbed over it. MUPPET. SO SAD. I walked in and walked out. no bargins to be had. But i did spot a 60% lable for a airhog plane, still made it priced at £24 after the discount..........

Oh well. it was worth it for the fun factor of watching all the bods trying to get the bargin consols and games only to wonder round like lost sheep when all they could see was 10% off.
  • This is not the woolies management team deciding prices....Indeed they stayed behind last night getting store set up for today....
The administrators decide on Posters and are paying for them...They decide prices to make as much money...
Staff just put up with being told at the last minute....
Anyway not many bargains left as staff are grabbing stock first...and good luck to them...

Sorry - that is me not being clear - I did mean the people managing the whole chain at the moment ie the adminstrators, not individual managers of stores.

Any well run business wouldn't need to close down the first sign of a dip in sales. Blame the management, clueless, sat on their backsides running Woolies into the ground while Wilkinsons come along and copy how Woolies use to be, Wilko stores are doing a roaring trade.

Interestingly I was eavesdropping on a staff member in Wilkos only today and she was saying she's been told she might lose her job because trade isn't good. This particular store is always packed so I presume it's the whole company, not just this branch.

Exactly, do not blame Woolworths staff, the administrators Deloitte are manipulating the media, whipping up a frenzy to get people in store.

Please do not abuse the staff if you go down & are disappointed, if anything vent your anger at any media crews covering the story making sure you blame the administrators who are tarnishing what is left of Woolworths reputation. Woolworths shouldn't be remember just as a pre xmas sales con!

    there is further discounts today
clothing is now down to 30% off, and was 20%

Thats right 30% off clothing instead of 20% and 40% off bikes instead of 20% (I think)

Dont think there will be more reductions until nearer the time of closure.

My God what a nightmare - the staff in Woolies deserve massive bonuses for dealing with today and still smiling. I had popped in last night and bought some Peppa Pig wall stickarounds but forgot my card so only had enough money to buy one and planned to pop in again today for another, it was absolutely insane and none of the prices had changed from last night. I don't know where the nonsense came from about a massive sale but the management must be thanking them, the stores have gone from completely empty last night to people queueing for an hour to get served because they think they're getting a bargain.

Went to Woolies a week ago and the staff are working flat out, so good luck and I hope they at least get something for Christmas and all their hard work.
