Popped into my local woolies in portsmouth about 10am. Was talking to a family friend shopping in there who said there had been a massive queue build up before opening, Then once doors opened a large burst of people heading to the games consols grabbing and fighting each other for them thinking eveything was half price. Police had to attend!!! Chrst knows what will happen when they anounce the 'REAL' closing down sale!!!
I know its horrible to think, But I couldnt help laugh at the image of grown people fighting each other over sonic the hedgehog!!!:rotfl:PLAY UP POMPEY0 -

Having being made redundant a couple of years ago (though thankfully we were given notice just before christmas so had a bit of time after christmas before we were of a job), I know how miserable it can be so I do feel for the staff and the managements decision to not produce further reductions after announcing the closing sale can't be making their lives any easier with customers moaning and complaining and getting the wrong end of the stick about the "50%" sale.
This is not the woolies management team deciding prices....Indeed they stayed behind last night getting store set up for today....
The administrators decide on Posters and are paying for them...They decide prices to make as much money...
Staff just put up with being told at the last minute....
Anyway not many bargains left as staff are grabbing stock first...and good luck to them...0 -

Went to have a look but not much 10% off most things some 20 and 30% of toys seem to be the main bargains but the only thing for 50% is cards the traffic was a nightmare people were rushing around complaining it was a con and I brought a car vac which was supposed to be £9.99 with 20% off and when I checked the receipt it had been charged at £19.99 as the tills had not been altered so after queueing for over 1/2 and hour at one till had to queue at refunds only to find the refunds till was being used as a general till also so ended up queuing another 1/2 hour some of the staff were disgruntled because shoppers were complaining about the hype to find it was not what it had been what they thought and some had to walk to work after waiting over an hour in a queue for a 10 min journey why did they not open the store later in the day? it affected everyone getting to work and it appeared as if everyone was pee,...d off. THATS THE WONDER OF WOOLIES. I suspect they are going to keep doing sales like this until what is available for 50% is what nobody wants anywayThe average woman would rather have beauty than brains,
because the average man can see better than he can think.
Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:0 -
Went in my small local woolies - it was busy but not impossibly so. I was hoping for a bargain on an oil-filled radiator, there was just one one there on a shelf saying 20% off. 20% off of £30 was still cheaper than any comparable ones I'd seen, so I went for it - when I got to the till it came out at £11.90, so I was very happy with that. Didn't have as much luck on my duvet set, the 20% off on that stayed at 20%.
The majority of stuff available was toys though. Most of the homewares - microwaves, blenders etc, seemed to still be marked at 20% .0
