My woolies has had a delivery tonight, so hopefully something in there tomorrow.0 -
i have recently lost my job too (yes like all the woolies staff!) and i for one will be there looking or vulturing for bargains whatever you want to call it, as i am on the dole now so all these sales have been a godsend to me  :j0

I cannot believe what I am reading. Do you really not want people to say that they feel that you are all acting like vultures when this is such a sad time for many people.
It's not just the 25,000 people that will loose their jobs. It's all of the small towns and high streets where Woolworths plays a key part. What will this mean for the other businesses already trying to compete against the huge superstores.
Go out at 8am and complain about only getting 50% off a Toblerone....I hope it bloody chokes you. This site is about saving a few quid but it is possible to save money without lowering yourself to the vulture like behaviour I have read on these boards over the last few days.
I apologise to the large group of people that have contributed to this thread in good faith. I am aiming this at the select few who have shown absolutely no tact or morals in their quest for getting something cheap.0 -
Why would anyone make something up about a bargain
In the current sale Woolies has been putting up 10% or 20% off, as if these were real bargains, but actually some of their chocolate had been INCREASED in price (e.g. Cadbury's Heroes had been £6.99 a tin in the 3 for 2 sale, but were increased to £7.99 a tin before the 20% off bargain appeared).
It is this supposed bargain creating that I was commenting on - it assumes that Woolies customers are stupid, which they are not.
Tomorrow though we will begin to see the real bargains - and I'm out at work all day so I'll miss itYou don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
SinBin - Some people need to realise that we're in a recession. Everybody is having a hard life. Therefore, any and all discounts for anything, especially at this time of year, is welcome for the majority of us. Yes, jobs are being lost, but tough - It's life. Stop making a big deal out of it. This thread is about the Woolies offers that will be around tomorrow, not to moan, whine and complain about the jobs. At the end of it, they'll go regardless, and to be honest, most of us don't really care much either right now.
Times are tough. So !!!!!! and stop making people feel bad about this. You want a discussion about the morality behind this, do me a favour and go start a thread somewhere else because I DON'T want to know. If I do, I'll contribute to it. Tomorrow, there will be many big offers, and I will be there, taking advantage of them with my head held high, regardless of what idiots like you, who don't have a clue, think.0 -
i'm pretty sure the staff at woolies will be the first to take things off the shelf before opening tomorrow, are they vultures too?? I know i would be!!Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research0 -
I can't bear the queues, and luckily I have won most of my prezzies this year, but surely one thing we can all agree on is that if the sale goes well, woolies staff are more likely to get paid for their hard work? If we boycott the sale (which some people seem to be advocating) it benefits no one.
On a side note, I can practically guarantee that the Woolies staff are having first pick of the bargains anyway! Does that make them vultures? Nothing we do or don't do will stop Woolies from closing, so lets stop this thread from being nasty, and concentrate on the xmas shopping eh!2008 wins £4405 2009 wins £7194 2010 wins £9615
Best wins ever: Laptop, £1000 John Lewis vouchers, PS3, Xbox 360 iPad Mini :beer:0 -

As I pointed out in a post last night, I have a job and a family, I worry about my income and expenditure, and if I can make my money go a bit further by taking advantage of bargains when I can, I WILL! And I'm sure many users of this forum do just the same.
I'm very sorry for the Woolies staff, and I'm sure they aren't very happy either, but I fail to see why it is necessary (or expected) for me to pay more for goods in their shop to keep them in a job, while better management in other shops should lose their jobs instead. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
ohhhh 50% off and I dont get paid until Friday... but they were saying 50% off the other day and most of the stuff was only 10%. Hmmmmmmm....... well i will have to hold out until Friday... I hate walking past and seeing sales... it is like my head is saying ohhh I am missing out! lol...
It is sad that people are losing their jobs, but whether or not we get a bargain from Woolies makes no difference.
Hope some of you get some decent bargains tomorrow! Just in time for Xmas!!!! x9 years and counting0 -
