    Morning all again!

I've got a list of jobs to do today, just writing them down in my little black notebook that has become my bible! I'm currently looking at mortgage rates and trying to get an idea of how much we could borrow on OH's current wages so I have some idea of what amount to set our savings goal at. We did have £3k in savings, but OH used that to buy our current car outright (I did agree though, the old car almost cost us as much in repairs in less than 11 months as it did to buy the thing!) so we need to replace that, but I'm looking at mortgages (currently just the Natwest as thats who I bank with and I'm only using it as a guide as I'm not that loyal when it comes to a better offer on borrowing money ;)) and I'm currently seeing the need to have about £10k in savings for a deposit, plus moving costs (say another £3k by the time you've paid for everything as I wouldn't want fees added to the mortgage). Since we have nearly £11k in debts, we could be stuck here for a lot longer than I wanted

I need a nice cup of tea and to get on with my jobs. The bathroom has suddenly grown loads of mildew so I need to climb up and wash that away  then it needs cleaning. I could do with trying to fix the front door but I don't know whats up with it, so I might just re-arrange the desk area again to see if I can get rid of one of the computer desks as our old one (which currently just holds the scanner) has become a catchall and dumping ground! I think we could probably get rid of the scanner since we hardly use it but no doubt OH will say otherwise, especially as we paid £100 for it :o (Pre-MSE days). Right, wheres that kettle...

Happy birthday to the birthday girl .PP glad you had a better nights sleep, hope you improve during the dat, Joanne, love the house, looks like the one we used to live in, it was so cosy and cheap to heat, had loads of insulation...... and a great heating system.

It's been one of those days and I've only just been able to catch up with everyone.

Anyway, I've changed the title of the daily thread as you can now see :)

For a moment there I thought we didn't have a new one!

    Phew!

    Hello everybody :hello:

It's a wet and grey morning and I stupidly came out without my brolly :o

Happy birthday Jo - hope you've got nicer weather where you are!

I am having a very non-OS, expensive week (likely to come in at about £250 ) but at least it is all in the budget.

Yesterday I bought a digital camera from Argos - but it's my Christmas pressie from my father, bought with the £100 he put in my Christmas card! Whoo-hoo - I can start selling on ebay!

Other main expense of this week will be taking one of my best friends out for dinner tomorrow. She and I always used to go out together on each of our birthdays. Mine is in July and hers is in August. But for the last 2 years she's been in constant pain with a back injury and has been unable to go out on her birthday even though she has been OK to come out on mine. On my birthday this year she treated me to a bottle of champagne with a dinner we otherwise split two ways, but I think tomorrow we'll probably drink normal wine but I'll pay for the whole dinner (my friend isn't able to work full time and is on a very tight budget). But I've had the money set aside for this since AUGUST 2004 (!!!) so not a problem. The even better news is that my friend also reckons they've finally found her a medication that's working :T

So I'm living a life of luxury this week :D Just as long as a week like this is the exception rather than the rule... I was watching Spendaholics last night and couldn't believe that woman on £14k income was getting through £700 a WEEK

Other than that I'm living the life of riley on the cheap as per usual :D:D

And I did manage to go window-shopping - even including trying on some really nice stuff - without spending anything. There was one really lovely skirt in the Next sale which I thought about getting for work, but then decided in true MSE style that I didn't like it SO much that it was worth being dry clean only!

In the words of the great British Gas - don't you just love being in control :D

    Me again

Right I've tried talking to the boss about this situation at work, and basically I was told that I'm not important and don't matter. So that's nice to know.

The stress levels are boiling over now:mad:

Deep breaths Scuzz. It's horrid that your boss speaks to you like that, but it could also be quite liberating if you decided that was how you wanted to play it. If you're not important enough to them, then they sure as hell arent important enough to you to get stressed out by them.

    Morning all,
    :j :j Happy birthday JW!!!:j :j
Hope everyone's day's are improving. Yep - Kiwi's right, it's Friday 13th this week  and my daft inlaws are FLYING up to see us for the weekend on Friday!!! Are they nuts or what??? Actually not particularly superstitious about Friday 13th but still wouldnt want to fly that day!!
Trying to get all my jobs done this morning as have appt with the midwife this pm - how exciting!! Just really starting to get a bit more excited about being pregnant now that we've passed the point we lost our first one at. Although, having said that, it's also somewhat tainted by the fact that mum's leukaemia has returned with a vengence. We've known it was terminal since last June but it was under control with drugs. Looks like they've stopped working though, and at the moment she's not a well bunny at all. Hoping she'll start some new drugs in the next few days, and that they'll get her back up and running, but we know that they're only likely to work for maybe 6 months, and after that... well, who knows. Just got to take it a day at a time and keep smiling through it all :D

    Right - enough from me.

    See you later.
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle
