jorichste - you've been really busy! I must admit that I have a chicken in the fridge I keep meaning to cook but haven't got round to it because my guests just want to go out all the time, so I've been very lazy this week! *hangs head in shame* The flat is a tip though - but they are OH's friends, so OH can clean it up I've decided (not that that will happen as I will crack first)

I also do not want to hear German pop music at 8 am

ravylesley - its just a chocolate sponge cake, but it's been made in a mould that looks like this one http://www.kriskitchen.com/product_info.php/products_id/69 - OH's sister bought it for me for Christmas last year. The shells are just melted chocolate wiped onto greasproof paper with a pallete knife and left to set - then stuck on with butter cream in layers. :) The marbling on the chocolate comes from not wiping the bowl between doing different sorts of chocolate. :)

    Evening everyone

Hugs and special thoughts for all those who are poorly or who have friends/relatives who are poorly, also for the redundant people, my sis and her husband have both recently been made redundant and redundancies are happening at their sons work too but luckily he is not one of those who are going.

Right, before work I....emptied WM and DW, put DW on again, set WM to come on so it was finished just before I got home. Did another layer of paper mache on my snowman's heads (don't ask :rotfl:) put pot of bolognaise sauce in SC for tonight and freezer.

Came home from work early today as they seemed to think it was ok to coat the walls in our office with some sort of sealant stuff, me and the other girl in office felt ill, eyes streaming and sore throats etc, when boss man came back he said if you do feel ill and you need to go home you had better go, so we did! left at 4. Am looking forward to next week when I am back to my normal hours, going from 25 hrs a week to 40 has made me really tired.

Some good news from my DD, she is not going to be able to go back to her job when her maternity leave is up as a) they have moved a considerable distance and b) she would not be able to go back to her original job, but going into to do admin, which is just NOT her :rotfl:She was contacted by WEA (?) about maybe running some adult dancing classes and emailed her app yesterday, today they were in touch and want to see her next Tues...fingers crossed for her as dancing/entertainment is her thing and she really believes that everyone benefits from dance.

Since I have been home I feel a lot better, eyes are very puffy though. Have managed to get the christmas tree out of it's box and put together. Now I have had a rest I might do the lights, think it might be a bit ambitious to think I will get it all done tonight........I also want to start on my snowmen's bodies.

Again, hugs and thoughts for those in need. Oh and a pat on the back for jorichste...atually a double pat, the second one is for stripping the chicken...I hate doing that, it's on par with cleaning the loo :rotfl:

    Hi all,
DH and I went to the forest and collected greenary for decs, poped into DD2 and SiL 2b, they are both suffering with a flu virus, DD2 also has bronchitus.

She had a temp of 106, shivering and teeth chattering but felt like a fire. I had to cool her down with a tepid flannel. I made them soup for lunch which they managed to have. Came home and made them a roast beef dinner which DH has just dropped off.

I bought them some Eucanisia (sp) from the health shop. If anyone has an OS tip for some health help for DD2 that would be appreciated, she is 6 mths pregnant so is only allowed Paracetamol which does diddley squat.
Goose grease, garlic, Vic's ointment, elephant dung, I'd try anything to ease her symptoms.

Tenents have just phoned to say there is a leak on the toilet, then they said it's been like that for a week now:eek: and they deceide to phone at 6.22pm. Oh great !!!!!!! DH will be pleased

Off to catch up on posts.

Take care one and all. x

    Hi all

Jorgan, sorry to hear your news ((hug for you))
WS - Hope you are okay
Hester - You're so tolerant. I'd have accidently-honestly-not-on-purpose locked her in the archive room by now :)

House guest is driving me nuts. It's like having a 30 year old child to stay. If he says "I'm bored" one more time I will loose it completely. He's fed up because we don't have a TV and just wants to go shopping all the time (which is fine but he's whining because we don't have a car and he can't hire one as he's had his license suspended for speeding offences back in Germany). I have persuaded him he wants to go to London today as there is no point coming all this way just to wander round Oxford city centre all day.

Last night we all went for fondue at a mutual friends house then back to ours to watch a film. I tried to leave after dinner and let guys watch a movie at the friends house, but they all insisted on coming back to ours as I can't possibly not want to spend the evening with them. *thud* <- that being the sound of my head hitting the wall repeatedly. Honestly, I'm so busy and it was the last thing I needed - I couldn't work because they were using my computer to watch the film, couldn't study/sleep because they were making so much noise and couldn't finish my sewing because the machine would have disturbed them. So I locked myself in the kitchen and made this:

Tonight I'm playing Carcassonne with some guys from work. Anything for some peace!

    Two days left.... :)

OMG   CELYN, you are so talented, I can see everyone taking their hats off to you :T

    Evening :santa2:

Late again been really busy, our "guest" has been off work today(hopefully finding somewhere else to stay) but at least he has been out all day. If it wasnt for DS1,DIL and the girls coming he could stay for another week, but we dont see them often and I would'nt put them off, they are coming on Thurs 18th and staying for 4 days :j :j :j

Soooo we got stuck in and started the windows and curtains, managed to do all the back ones, and will do the front either tomorrow or Friday.
WM is worn out now ;)

Wrapped and labelled some pressies, answered a few e'mails, made a couple of phone calls, got a bag ready to take down to the charity shop, sorted the back bedroom out and now have a load of things to go in the loft.

Glad I cooked and froze lots of meals last week, makes it easier when we are busy to just get 2 out of the freezer and pop them in the oven, so tonight Dinner was Shephers Pie very nice and filling, I did'nt mash the spuds this time though I half cooked them and sliced them on the top, just for a change, and what did OH do....yep..... he smashed em

I havent read through yet will do that next.

    (((hugs))) for taplady/Lesley and family
Kathy - is there any news on LO yet?
Hope all the poorly ones are feeling better today x

Celyn, Wow, I too am very impressed!!
Jorgan, so sorry to hear of your unexpected bad news :( And thinking of all the others experiencing job losses & having worries.

Got home a little while ago, helped my mum with some paperwork for CCCS, then reheated some of last night's pasta, now about to embark on an evening typing my letters for the office... Tomorrow's plan (study day) is to try & use the time to do as much as possible for Xmas (ie finish the shopping) so I don't have a frenzied 2 week run-up to it....

    (((((hugs))))) to all.

  • Hi all!! hope you all had a better day than me. Well as i posted on monday i had the warmfront people in to put in a new boiler etc. Have been without heating since monday. Everything was finished today and the boiler fired up first time. Exactly 60 minutes later it broke down!!!! Called the installer (southern electric) and they sent the installer around again only for him to tell us that the boiler was faulty (i couldnt believe it considering it was only 60 minutes old!!) Southern electric then informed me that the £3900 they received as payment (including the £895 i had to pay - on my credit card) was for installing the boiler which they had done - and there was nothing they could do. I blew a gasket i can tell you. I called warmfront and they weren't interested either. I called Baxi and they said that yes they would fix it .....but not until Saturday. So here i am still with no heating until saturday now. i could just cry with frustration. i feel so miserable when im so blooming cold.
Anyway thats enough self pity for me. Havent done much today due to workmen all over the house but have hoovered the whole house and put all the sheets and towels back in the airing cupboard. Tomorrow i have another warmfront guy round to flush the system out (if he turns up and if its worth it considering its not working!) After that i want to nip into town and do some xmas shopping and i think that will be it.
Hugs to all those that need one!

Ravy, I'm so glad you asked, I was too embarrased to, it does look fantastic Celyn.
Mrs Degree went home injured today, I doubt if she'll be back this week, BOW is traumatised today, she stayed home to let the decorator in & the plumber arrived instead, she has trouble cope when things don't go according to plan.
I've used up all my stale bread & made 2 huge bread puddings for work tomorrow.
I hope you are feeling better now WS, I have to admit to a chuckle though, if he rummaged in my house he's have found thing more frightening than knickers & would probably have run screaming from the house.
Have a good evening one & all
    Hugs Hester

Hi everyone - not had much time to come on here today but I had to tell you all that LO is now off the ventilator and breathing on her own; she's not out of the woods yet but this is the most hopeful positive news we've had all week.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the redundancies - especially as the Government seems to think there will be millions of jobs available, otherwise why would they choose now to start trying to get as many people off benefits as possible. Never mind, if you watched the news tonight, you'll have heard that GB really does think he can save the world!

(((Hugs))) to all those who are suffering with the illnesses and bugs that seem to be everywhere.

Well, off to watch Little Dorrit, then Devil's !!!!! - just hope I can stay awake!
