Morning all,
DH and I will go to the Fountain Forestry today and collect the greenary, hope the birds have left some berries for me, also pop to DF's and do swopsies, wine for her holly. Must must must do the cards and get them posted, I heard on the news that the posties are going on strike in Somerset so that's a big insentive to finish them.
Having my stitches out today, I have the Harry Potter mark up my hand and arm, as DGD noticed and said Cool!
I'm feeling quite motivated with doing the decs now, it's starting them that's the difficult bit, I've nearly completed the 2nd inglenook.
Hope it's a good day for all. (((((((((hugs))))))))) to the poorlies.
DONNY-GAL, What's wrong, are you alright hun?0 -

Morning all :xmassmile
First warm thoughts and hugs to all those in need.
Beth what an awful thing to happen
Taplady My thoughts and prayers are with lesley and her family
Sybil omg, what a horrible experience. DH is right to report it to the authorities. What a creep
Came home shattered last night and was too tired to even start up my pc. I think this freezing weather is taking its toll on my back. I don't know whether it is because I'm tense walking down to work in case I slip but after getting in last night I just made dinnerr some bread and hobnobs and then stretched out on the sofa with the wonderful heat belt I got from Lidl a couple of weeks ago. It definately helped the spasm.
Dinner tonight will be a HM quiche with some chorizio I have left and mushrooms cheese and egg. Potato wedges I think to go with that and as for veg, who knows
Heard about the govm'ts latest plans to get people back to work this morning on the TV and saw a lady with 4 wee ones under 6 who is being told she will have to go to work or risk loosing her benefits. Also that people on disability benefits will need to undergo back to work training. It seems rather bizarre when unemployment is so high and there just arent a lot of jobs around. While I think that there are some who take advantage of the benefits system, there are a lot of genuine people who will be badly affected by this.
Guess I should do some work now, I'd much rather sit on here and chat today, I woke up thinking it was Thursday and felt sooo disapointed, still only got to go till the 19th then Im off for a week.
~hugs~ to all this cold frosty morning0 -
Good Morning Chums,
and boy did Jack Frost have a go round our way last night. Its blooming freezing, and looks like a this layer of snow over everything. I'd like to get to the Country Park and take some 'frosty photos' but a bit worried that
a. I might fall over and break something, as I walk with a stick and am a bit wobbly in this weather, and
b.My car is like a fridge at the moment, and I'm not too sure if I get there whether I would be able to get it back up the track and on the road again afterwards Oh well never mind.
My DGD rang me last night to say that dependant on her results she has got a place in the local college next year . She will do three days college and two days work-placement .I am so pleased for her as she applied off her own bat and sorted out the interview herself. She is very focussed on what she wants to do.She is hoping to become a paediatric nurse, its what she's always wanted to do, and to be that focussed at 15 is really good I think. She is the eldest of five and already is very used to taking care of younger children. Her cousin, my other DGD is a lovely girl but seems to think that you just go straight from school to a college course without having to put much effort into it .She wants to do Business studies but hasn't any idea as to what she will do after 'perhaps work in an office' is all she says .She seems more interested in shopping and boys and having a good time .Doesn't really put much effort in at school either, still I suppose she will sort herself out eventually.
Youngest DD is coming this morning so I promised her a nice bacon and egg breakfast after she has dropped the kids off at school to warm her up.so I'd better get a wriggle on .
<<hugs to those who are down>> and worried about their family and friends Its a dreadful time to have such worries, and put all our little problems on the back burner.Pen-Pin I hope you are feeling a bit better today, and Smokey, keep your chin up lass, the first Christmas is always the most difficult one.To all the others who I remember in my prayers every night when I have a chat to the 'Big Man' upstairs I hope you have a peaceful day
The rest of you ,just keep wrapped up warm today as there is a chilly north wind blowing and thats a killer one.Lots of hats need to be worn today to keep your body warmth in.
Take care JackieO xx0 -

Morning all.
Day at home pottering, will have to make out a list so that I feel I'm achieving and keeping me on task. I'm out at a Portugese rest with a couple of g/f tonight, dh has Xmas lunch at work, so ds can have casserole from freezer and have already made a s/w for dh when I did ds's pack up this morning.
Have done so little at home in the last couple of days, work thing was upsetting me. I ended up so tired last night that I went to bed at 9pm. At least I just have next Monday and Tuesday till after the Christmas hols.
Have about 20 of us for soup and cake lunch on Sunday, so need to clean the cupboard fronts in the kitchen. THey're horrendous. Few parcels to send, so that will get me out for a short while later. Not had my approved foods order yet, would quite like that to arrive!
Sorry to sound gloomy! I realise from reading this thread, that in the great scheme of things my problems are not great. I have SAD, so just find things harder to cope with at this time of year. DD is living abroad for 6 months and dh is embarking on a period of 2 years abroad, so I guess that is on my mind as well!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

:santa2: Good morning!
(((hugs))) to Morwennas ds, redundancy stinks doesn't it? dd has gone back in to work but unsurprisingly her heart isn't in it. So many redundancies just in the last week. (((hugs))) to all who are affected.
Good to see you back Mrs Mix!yes you have been missed!
JackieO - glad you had a lovely meal with your crafting group. Your description of the food had my mouth watering! Thanks for the warning, I shall have my furry boots, long socks, thick trousers, layered jumpers, fleece lined coat, 2 scarves, gloves and beret on when I walk Penny! lol nothing really matches and I look a bit like the mitchellin man :rotfl: but at least I am toasty warm in this weather.
I am still working my way through the freezer trying to make room for Christmas!:rudolf: :rotfl: Last night's defrosted frozen surprise was a vegetable curry, which I thought was a chilli (the label had come off!) so dh not impressed! Tonights meal is (I hope;) ) soya mince bolognaise! Lunch will be "bottom of the fridge" soup in the slow cooker as today is veg box day so need to make room in the fridge.
edited to say that the bolognaise is now defrosting and is in fact the chilli! I knew it was in there somewhere!
((((Hugs))) and my prayers are with Bgn Rzl's friend Lesley, Taplady's friend Lesley and family (my friend L is a Lesley too! her op has been put off while they try to find a suitable stent, still hoping she will get home for Christmas though) Kathy's little niece, Beths db's, Tristan, Pen pin and Donnygirls friends.
