I'm still researching buildings and contents insurance and More Th>n is the front runner, coming in at £132 after £70 cashback via Quidco.

I went online and checked More Th>n this morning, and the premium has gone up to £214 (wich is an extra £12).

I have decided to go with it, because it is still cheaper than all my other quotes.
When I checked on Quidco, the cashback has been validated at £75 (not £70), so it will have cost £139 for both.

Well done on the savings; I hope you checked the policy in detail to be certain you've got like-for-like or better?

The OH has gone back into hospital this morning (09:00), hopefully as a day case. I'll know for definite by 17:00.

I hate to admit it, but I am relieved that he will be out of my way for the day, :j and I won't be rushing to pick him up when I get the call.
At least I'll get some time to myself (away from the demands from a sick male), probably doing housework for some of it.

It was Pay Day on Friday and some of my overtime was missing.
They've paid the person who asked me to cover their shift. It should be sorted out next month.

I sent another £200 to the mortgage account this morning, and will be sending another £150 at the end of next week.

We have made a breakthrough. :j

OH has been thinking about the mortgage today (whilst at home recovering from his op), and has been thinking about paying it off within the next 5 years (and not the 7 left of the fixed rate).

I know he thinks that I obsess about being mortgage free, but he just pays what I tell him into bill account (sole account in my name) and I take care of all the bills and overpayments.
Took no interest in my garage clearout/eBaying project. He has signed up to a couple of cashback sites, but forgets to use them.

He likes to see the balance decrease when we get updates from the Nationwide, but doesn't care to check the balance online.

Today when I got home from a busy day at work, he bombards me with spreadsheets and numerous calculations/options.
He has never shown this level of interest.

He was even considering not changing his car for the next 5 years (it's only 3 years old), so that he can divert more funds to the cause.

I'll see what happens over the next week or so, as he will still be recovering at home next week.
He may come up with some more ideas while he has nothing else to do with his time.

Quidco have received the £25 from British Gas.

Great news, but, do remind him to have some budget for fun otherwise he may revert after a couple of months....

    I have done.

I think he has finlly seen the lights after several weeks at home in bed watching awful daytime TV.
    It can drive you insane.

He isn't that bothered about his car, because he prefers to have my old one, but when I think about the 3 built-in wardrobes in our house and that 2 of them are full of his clothes, I am sure that some extra savings could be made quite easily.

He likes his holidays too much to go without them, so I think he'll come up with a sensible plan.

On Thursday, I signed up for a HSBC credit card via Quidco, got approved and £20 has already tracked and the card arrived on Saturday. :)
I'll probably use the card once, but it was an easy way to earn £20.

51.gif yay glad Mr U is now on board. New converts are usually the most zealous so maybe you can get him to have a NSY (no spend year) in the clothing department.

Good idea - I'll put that to him.

Sent another £150 to the mortgage account this morning.
Overpayment for this month will be £850.

I'm doing a Race For Life 5K run at the end of next month with some colleagues from work, so I need to get some training in beforehand.

OH returned to work on Thursday. He had been absent for a month due to a minor surgery which went well.

I checked the balance online this morning and it was just under £90K, but with another 4 days interest, it will be back above £90K for my end of month update.
I had hoped that it would be be £89,xxx for my end of month stats, as it makes me feel that my target of £88,000 is just that bit closer to being achieved.

I told the OH that seeing as he had spent the last month in bed with me at his beck and call, his expenditure over the month must have been minimal and there MUST be a surplus sloshing around in his current account.

He agreed with my rationale and promised to kindly deposit £100 in the mortgage account at a local branch of the Nationwide before lunchtime, as I had to go to work.

Checked online tonight and the £100 has been credited and no fees/charges applied. Month end balance will definitely start £89,xxx. :j

The other positive from all of this, is that this month, I have managed to overpay £950 on our Nationwide fixed rate mortgage and no charges have been applied.
So even though I don't know what the limit is before they apply fees/charges, £450 extra in a month doesn't trigger them, which is very good to know.
