Well done on that position of OP and balance, you must be pleased.0

The August payment which will be made next week, will take the mortgage below £88,000 and result in my year end target being achieved several months early.
I didn't realise how much money was tied up in the junk in the garage and how much could be earned from using the cashback sites more effectively and also the financial benefits of efficient energy usage.
This year I have also said "Yes" to paid overtime that I previously would have taken time to consider and often declined.
These factors have played a great part in me reaching my target early.
I've decided to revise my year end target from £88,000 to £84,000.
Talking about overtime, I have to go into work for the next 2 Sundays.
This Sunday was landed on me on Friday and I can't really get out of it because I am the reluctant Plan B (I'm a bit knackered this week, so could have done with a day with nothing to do).
The Sunday after (I've been invited to a work colleague's wedding & wedding reception), I have to cover for key staff on my department who are on holiday.
I do have the option of not going in and instead picking up the pieces on the Monday and doing a mega-long shift (with a potential hangover ) for no extra pay.
The option that I have chosen does come with a downside.
I have to get to work for 0600 next Sunday morning, and cram 5.5hrs work into 4hrs, get paid for the inconvenience, and then have a nap before the fun begins.
The 2 shifts should add another £250 to the overpayment pot for September.
30 more sleeps until we go to Florida. :j0 -
keep up the good work... and take a few early nights to catch up on the sleepWin Dec 2009 - In the Night Garden DVD : Nov 2010 - Paultons Park Tickets :0

This Sunday was landed on me on Friday and I can't really get out of it because I am the reluctant Plan B (I'm a bit knackered this week, so could have done with a day with nothing to do).
A Plan C was quickly formulated this morning so I didn't have to go in.
I really needed the break because I've done very little today apart from rest and read.
I've listed a few items (sports watch and a few items of clothing) on eBay which should go for about £100 in total if they all sell.0 -
Quidco paid out £12.78.
I have £96 validated, of which £25 is due in September and £71 in October.
eBay news.
I sold the sports watch for £75 (accepted Best Offer), and I made a profit after fees/postage of £22. :j
I'm going to list some Michael Jackson stuff that has been gathering dust for years. It should raise another £75 hopefully.
I forced myself to go to the Trafford Centre today to get an outfit for the wedding I am going to on Sunday.
Big mistake!
It was crowded (by my standards - I only ever go mid-week) and I didn't have the desire/energy to keep queuing up outside changing rooms and waiting ages to try stuff on.
I should have known with it being school holidays. Obviously wasn't thinking.
Whilst gossiping to a friend and telling her about my awful afternoon, she suggested I try eBay.
She said that you can get really good stuff dirt cheap as she does it all the time.
I've taken her advice and tomorrow I am picking up 2 really nice-looking tops which will have cost me the princely sum of £8.50 for both, but are worth considerably more.
I hope they are OK. More for the overpayment pot if they are.0 -
Overpayment so far this month is £700.
The wedding reception last weekend went very well and thankfully a group of us ate before we went to the reception.
The company was great and the bride and groom looked splendid, :kisses2: , BUT the food wasn't that great.
I felt sorry for those who came to the reception expecting more, and went home with rumbling stomachs. :rotfl:
I've been a bit busy at work so I have only sold 4 things totalling £40 on eBay in the last week. I will set aside some time tomorrow and get stuck in properly, as I need the auctions to end by next Sunday , so that I can get the goods to the buyers before we go on holiday.
Talking of holidays, I have only just discovered that Tesco are introducing limits (from 1st September 2009) on the value of Deals vouchers you can redeem per person/per holiday.
£400 with Cosmos and £700 with Virgin.
Luckily I have enough vouchers (without receiving this quarter's mailing yet) to pay for a holiday (Egypt in Jan/Feb next year) in full.
OH is going to confirm dates at work on Monday and then I will be booking it.
If I book after the 1st September, I will have to put £350 cash towards the same holiday. I know what I would rather do with the cash.0 -
Gas bill arrived from EON yesterday.
I've been trying to switch to British Gas Websaver 3 for several months and after 2 failed attempts, I finally got to the bottom of it.
Our home's Meter Point Reference is not on the national database.
It is still referred to by it's Plot Number, so British Gas kept cancelling my contract 6 weeks after application, because the MPR on my EON bills wasn't recognised and they couldn't do the switch.
I've done it over the phone now and they will sort it all out by mid September.
The gas bill that came yesterday was an estimate of £58 for the quarter.
I checked the meter and rang them back with a true reading (because it was out by 65 units in our favour) and the new bill is £24. :j
We have used 43 units since the 13th May.
13th May = 3153 (read by EON)
14th August = 3196 (read by me)
We have gas central heating, gas hob and electric oven and we live in a 4-bed, 3 storey house. I know the figures are correct (I always phone with an accurate figure when the bill comes if it is an estimate), but can we really have only used £8 of gas (avg) for the last 3 months?
We were in New York 11th -18th May, so we also saved some energy by not being at home.0
