  • Oh help..... 15 YEAR old twin boys would be helpful.....

That's what having twins does to you :S
Just a Mum trying to do her best :)
  • I don't believe that spending the same amount is the right thing to do. Myrtle's wildly differing amounts are easier to deal with - if she can afford 150 for daughter #1 fine and she can buy something else that she knows daughter #2 would like (as well as the pencil) but it doesn't have to equal 137.50. The value isn't the point with gifts, it's the thought. Don't set your children up to be materialistic.
  • I would want to make sure that they both got around the same in value. If it could be afforded Gabriella would get the extra £60 or, if it couldn't be afforded Monica would get £40 to put TOWARDS the Nintendo DS, the rest to be made up from savings, vouchers, etc. That way the child who was not greedy gets a cash reward and the child who maybe was greedy gets a little check to remind her that there is only so much to go round.
  • i would make the difference up with other presents so would spend the same on each child and explain to them that is what in was doing. i do try and spend the same amount on my 2 within a pond or two. they are asked to write lists to give us ideas and are told there is a limit to how much we will be spending. they also understand that the size of presents etc is not important as small things can cost alot more than bigger ones sometimes.
  • Wow, I've just been really thumped with a huge feeling of nostalgia. Me too about the farm!!! A green eiderdown made do as rolling hills and the animals were all gathered spending weekly pocket money on Brittens model animals - they were really good quality and of a related scale unlike some of the ones sold today. Playing using your own imagination - is that a spooky concept these days?

Whoops, this was supposed to be with Canadabound's comment re. toy remembered with most affection

I've got twin girls. This year dd1 has asked for two things adding up to £150 and dd2, a giant pencil £2.50! I've not decided what to get dd2 yet but it will be about the same in value.

Oh my goodness that is so cute it actually brought a tear to my eye! May I ask what age they are?

  • I have twin boys. If the things each child ask for vary a bit in price, I wouldn't worry too much about it. (After all, Santa's elves make their pressies, not Argos:rolleyes: )

If there was a big difference in the price, then I would probably get the twin you had asked for the cheapest gift something else they complemented the thing they had asked for.

Generally, they both get the same for Birthdays etc. But whilst they still believe in Santa, talking cash would confuse the matter. When they are older they will be given a set amount each, as with Birthdays.
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j

I have twin daughters and I give each what they want, regardless of difference in value. What on earth is the point of giving them something they don't want just in order to spend more?

They're 9 Tara. Dd2 has asked for just a pencil for the last 4 years now, bless her. It won't be all she gets though but I have bought her the hugest pencil EVER! :rotfl:
