    Hiya Piquant,

Just want to say Happy New Year! I have now read all through your thread so am up to date. The horse pub crawl sounded like great fun! It is great to see you starting the New Year with such optimism!

    Morning! *waves*

Just thought I'd pop in before my boss gets in and glares at me (that's why I've not been on so much since starting back at work)

Looking forward to the next update.

Okay the llama story especially for Dinah.

The Captain and I decided to go for a hack, well actually I decided and he deigned to come along. I live in an area that has acres and acres of National Trust land that has many hacking routes and plenty of pubs dotted around the borders. It was a lovely sunny day and I decided to do the circular forest route, mainly because it’s one of the few I don’t get lost on. I must have a hedgehog in my lineage, somewhere way back, I’m always getting lost.

I was meandering along admiring the trees when suddenly the Captain stopped dead, nearly throwing me over his head. He was quivering and snorting as a llama strolled into view ahead of us! It stopped dead and the two protagonists stood staring at each other, it was like the duelling scene from the OK Coral. Under normal circumstances, the Captain is very brave, but he does not consider llamas normal. He decided that the best thing to do was to run away…. So he reared, spun and took off the way we had come… with me hanging on for dear life with no stirrups! Unbeknownst to me, the llama had made the same decision, possibly without the rearing…

So there we are galloping as fast as he can on the circular track through the forest. I couldn’t get him to stop at all and to my horror saw a lady walking her dog in front of us! The Captain knows we always stop for walkers, so he did! Once again I was nearly over his head, I shouted “llama” at the poor woman and the Captain was off again, thundering down the track. I still wonder what on earth she thought was going on. A madly galloping horse coming to deal halt alongside her and a madwoman shouting llama! After what seemed an age, I got him back to a snorting indignant walk and slowly I started to breath again and have a regular heartbeat.

You know what’s coming next, once again, in front of us was the llama, this time I was prepared and held the Captain, the llama came up to us and the Captain sniffed the air round it to try to work out what sort of horse the llama was. This must have deeply offended the llama as it spat green cud all over us! Well, we took off again, forwards this time, spraying the most offensive smelly green slime as we went. It goes upwards, when you’re going at speed…

That, in short, is my llama story. I still don’t know where the wretched creature came from or went to. It took ages to get the green stains out of the Captains coat and my jodhpurs never recovered. Every time we go past the llama spots on that particular hack the Captain pauses and has a snort to see off any llamas…

I'd better do a sensible post too although I haven't much to report on.

Have done the payment a day challenge and sent 2.07 across the the horrid A&L card, going easy on the extra payments as I made such a hash of it the other month. I'll be very grown up and wait and see what I have left nearer payday.

Still haven't heard anything from the loan company about the ppi mis-selling letter I sent, but I suppose I should give them a couple of weeks to respond and object! A little over-enthusiasm on my part.

Fantastic story, and I feel very special since you posted it just for me. That story has made my day, I'm all ill and wheexy and generally feeling sorry for myself, but I'll be telling OH he has to come and read that one when I get home. He's a big rider too and I've shown him parts of your diary before and he's been absolutely creased up laughing! Well done on the payment too. I've never quite understood where the payment a day comes from, did you pluck £2.07 as a random number out of the air or is there a purpose?

Hmmm, we have had some adventures together! Plenty more where that came from!

Sorry you're not feeling well, hope you get better soon. You always feel a bit fed up when you're not 100%.

Somewhat surprisingly, given my slightly random nature, the 2.07 was plucked from the air! If I make a payment tomorrow it will be 2.08. I used to buy a coffee on the way to work costing 2.00 but decided to throw it against my debt instead. In order to track how long it took to go across to the credit card account and to make sure it arrived, I added the day's date in pennies. So a £2.00 payment on Valentine's day would be £2.14. I actually do this for any extra payments, be they a pound or a hundred pounds ( I wish!)

I really hope that makes sense, I do waffle on sometimes :o

I'm sort of used to it, he is actually a very trustworthy horse and tries his best not to lose his rider! The last time I rode another horse was when I turned myself inside out  came off doing a jump, not nice at all.

I haven't forgotten the month when I happily overpaid thinking it was a four week month when it was actually a five week month and had no money left at all. Not doing that again if I can help it!
