Hi Piq!
Well done you on the NSD. I went to Boots for Nappies and got sucked into the frenzied bargain section. Ended up buying a selection of mini perfumes. My reasoning to myself is that I literally have NO perfumes now when I used to have loads. Just seems an unneccesary expense. So six mini perfumes for £8 seemed a bargain. People were going mad though....the woman in front of me at the till spent over £100 on gift sets and stuff. I suppose thats presents for the year but I can never quite bring myself to do it!!
Good idea throwing money at the card. I had my statement from the CCCS today for my DMP and the lowest creditor is £42. I will pay that off this month and then start PAD on the next lowest (£790 Barclays).
Do you feel more positive about clearing debt this year? I do. Last year it all felt very gloomy but, for the first time in ages, I feel like I'm in control (even if I AM broke lol!!)

Hello Miss P!
I do feel more positive about clearing some of the debt, if I am to have a life with less stress, I have to clear as much and as soon as I can. I think I can deal with it a little better as I've sorted out quite a bit of the head stuff that makes me spend. You know the sort of thing, a reward for a good day, solace for a bad day, keeping up with the Jones, having stuff just because.... I know there will be lapses and horrible unexpected expenses, but I hope I can just shrug my shoulders and climb back on. This site and my diary help, I gather inspiration and ideas from other people and encouragement from friends like you.
Every spare pound I will throw at the A&L (MBNA) card, it's on a criminal rate of interest and I have nowhere to transfer it, so I'm going to give them as little interest as I possibly can.
I think you'll be fine on the debt road, as you say, you're in control and you can get quite a kick out of seeing the figures dropping one by one. And of course, you've got the gang to help whenever you need it!

29 December
Not a lot to report, haven't updated my spreadsheet or checked the banking, site seems to be down. Will do it tomorrow morning instead. Have had another nsd, record number this month!
Will also not be doing a food shop until next Sunday, have promised myself that I will use up fridge and store cupboard goodies. Today I made strawberry and grape muffins, surprisingly nice, couple of the strawberries were turning so it had to be done. Tonight I will be having potato, leek and cheese bake, I have oodles of cream to get through. Using up all these ingredients will not help my waistline at all - sigh... not going to help in the seduction stakes either! Will deal with the over-voluptuousness in the new year - promise!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Hi piq, glad you had a nice Christmas, good idea using up all the food that you already have in, saves a trip to the shops and getting sucked in, plus more NSD's.
The strawberries and grap muffins sound nice, might pinch one when your not looking!:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Mickey and andan you are both welcome to join me, I'm a bit lonely at the moment. But be warned, I cannot be responsible for over-developed waistlines from all the leftover cookery I'm doing! Everybody who popped over during Christmas seemed to bring, wine, cream, cheeses of all types and biscuits... fully expecting Captain to shout "get off fatso" very soon.....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

hmmm well maybe you will have to save some of your yummy bake for me for after my Slimming World weigh in tomorrow. I could pick Andan up on the way as we live near each other. I have no idea where you live though :rotfl: So you have a talking horse that goes on pub crawls- could be a lot of money to be made with such a talented horse .£2 savers club 2025 #40

Hmmm, think he'll have his legs splayed out, one at each corner, the way I'm putting on weight at the moment! Accidentally helped eat the tin of Roses down at the yard, didn't stop me feeling the cold at all....somebody told me it would, needed to test the theory....
Could do with him talking, might be able to put him on a talk show and earn some money from him, instead of him spending it for me. Have just written a cheque for his shoes - £60 :eek:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
