I've been Money Tipped!
:santa2: Good morning!

:T Thank you Sunnyday for the story about your cat! I was feeling very down about my friend and now I have tears rolling down my face where I have been laughing so much :rotfl: (and a very puzzled little dog watching me:D ) You tell it very well and I could see it happening! Have you ever read Deric Longdens books? Especially "The cat that came in from the cold" very similar stuff used to happen to his cats.
I do miss having cats in my life but am sadly now allergic! :(

Yesterday we bought our Wii sport from argos for £176 with a £10 gift card bringing it down to £166 so not too bad. Couldn't get a Wii fit anywhere so that will have to wait until after Christmas. Seems like a lot of money to spend in one go but it will keep the whole family amused and we haven't had a treat for ages, didn't go abroad for a holiday so have been very good Santa honest!:o ;)

I didn't get to marzipan the cake, so that will be todays job. I visited my friend L who is back in the London hospital. Part of her op has gone wrong and she needs another small op this week to fix things, before she can get home, in time for Christmas we hope, and recover ready for the next op in May. She is so ill and was very down last night so if there are any spare prayers about she could use them. I am sending my thoughts and prayers on to Lesley, Tristan and kathys lo and anyone else who could use them (((hugs)))

Right one more :coffee: and then on with the day!

Sunnyday - once a cat that used to possess us did something similar. She used to wash carrier bags as a hobby then one day she caught her head in the handle of one. Unfortunately she did this in the morning and we didn't get in till late. She was absolutely traumatised and it took days for her to recover. Evil cat was frozen into position, and it took her hours to get over it. All the clue was the shreds of carrier bag round her neck and the tattered remains spread over four floors.

Hester - good luck, I don't know how you manage!

Morning everyone. Another cold & damp one here. Not much on the way of OSing today, apart from using leftovers for lunch & tea.

Received our g&e bills via e-mail over the weekend, in credit on both by quite a bit, we tied into a fixed price deal with BG a year or so ago, I think we will be in for a shock when the deal ends & the price goes up, so happy to over pay now.

Off to the post office later to post some of my e-bay sales.

:hello: Good morning!

Catznine - So sorry to hear about your friend, I certainly have some "spare prayers" for her, and also for Tristan, Lesley and the LO Mioliere told us about. I'm so glad Sunnyday's story cheered you up :)

Penny_Pincher - so pleased to have you back:T Sorry you are both unwell today and hope you feel better as the day goes on.

((((HUGS)))) to everyone who needs them atm.

Welcome to Casper, knitter and our other new posters.

We had DGD's Christening yesterday. She was very good,:A and looked so sweet in her dress. She didn't like the "feel" of the material though and kept tugging at it, so after the requisite photo opportunities DD put her into an ordinary dress. There was a gorgeous little Nigerian boy christened at the same service. He was named Jedediah plus four other names, which his Godmother said one at a time and the Vicar repeated each one. He'd never have remembered them all otherwise! Somehow I think that as soon as the lad starts school he'll quickly become "Jed" everywhere except at home!

DGD's Christening party was at a bar where our DS used to work and still helps out sometimes, so they did the buffet at cost price, very MSE! DSIL put some money behind the bar and it didn't all get used up, so they did make a bit of a profit, which was good. The couple who run the bar used to be Police officers so they can be their own bouncers if necessary!:D

I won't be doing much OS today as am going over to DD's soon to help a bit with the children (and take the remains of the Christening cake, which DS brought home after the party - I suspect DD and I will have some of it after our lunch ;) ) Mind you, I'm not sure how much help I will be as I seem to be very tired after yesterday's socializing:rolleyes: It's always nice to see the DGCs though:D

At the party one of our nephews told us about the surprise party that's being organised for his Mum's 50th birthday at the end of January, swearing us to secrecy because his Mum "doesn't know about it", and then a little later DH was talking to his sister (the nephew's Mum) and she told him all about the surprise party she was going to have, so funny! So she's obviously having to pretend she doesn't know a thing about it:rotfl:

All for now, I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Best wishes

ivyleaf xx

Welcome to caspertheghost you will love it here

Tristan is in hospital again. (He went in last week and came out again but is back in again now..) so I didn't have to be up at silly hours this week, which is why I haven't started the thread at all. He does come online with his laptop sporadically but we are mostly communicating via email.

Had a busy weekend. Went out and took some pictures for the review site I write for, and also went on a wallpaper hunt. Well, I sit in the car and my OH goes into the stores and brings out samples that fit the remit I gave him. He did remarkably well, I actually have about 3 samples that I actually really like and are the right colour scheme. The sun was shining and it was a mild day so I sat in the car with the sunroof open, with my latest book and a favourite cd in the player - there are worst ways to spend time, especially as I don't get out of the house much.

Well, the lodger paid her rent on time AND gave us some extra towards the electricity bill as she keeps falling asleep with the tv and light on! So that was a nice suprise.

Went and bought a sack of potatoes from a local farm. Some of them are HUGE and we paid £6 for the sackful which I think is 52lbs? Anyway, we have been paying about £2 for 2.5 kg so this was a real bargain. And all still covered in our lovely Devon mud too. We had baked pots for dinner yesterday and we are going to roast some tonight so we can see if they will work with christmas dinner!

WM and BM on and the sun is shining, so it's a good start.

Morning all,

Just been up to check on Ulick, not a sound to be heard so I was getting worried...he was just getting up and seems all right, but certainly has very little energy these days, all he manages to do is light the living room fire, as he is cold all the time.

Lashing rain here this morning, to clear in the afternoon I hear.

Was strange to go into shop this morning, no pork products being sold, not allowed at present until the contamination problem is sorted so there are notices everywhere...bought chicken for dinner as DS1 is in Dublin for a meeting and will have lunch here on his way home to Cork so we will have our main meal around 1.30.

Cards being done this evening, then some more knitting, seem to be slowing down at wrong time, just over 2 weeks to go and there are still some things to be started!

Hugs to all in need or want, congratulations to those celebrating, welcome to the newbies

well the workmen have finally arrived to put in the new boiler etc (was supposed to be done last week but they cancelled twice!). Just been told that we will have no heating at all until Wednesday and i can't stand being cold :( At least it will be done and i will hopefully have a reliable heating system at last. Having it done under warmfront scheme but still had to contribute £875 towards it. Had to go on credit card as we really needed a new boiler. Anyway so far today i have only managed to get all my avon bagged up and ready to deliver tomorrow. Cant really do much else as i have workmen all over the house. Tea tonight is gonna be hot dogs and wedges - nice and easy.
My DS1 started his work experience at a local garage today so I hope is is doing ok - he has a speech problem and dyspraxia so struggles a bit and i tend to fret over him too much.
Hoping to go to blockbusters and rent dark knight later as DH has been going on and on about it.
Well better get on - have a good day all!!

Hi all.

Aussie - I haven't tried that recipe before so have no idea how it will turn out. I liked the simplicity of the ingredients! Long lists of different things puts me off trying some things!

Donny-gal - great to hear from you!

Knitter - welcome to you!

Pippa - that was a great result with your energy bills. I'm just glad I'm in credit with mine at the moment. We are being really careful, as most people are.

Meanmarie - (((hugs))) to Ulick.

Thanks for the continued good wishes and prayers for LO - she seems to be holding her own at the moment, which is better than getting worse.

Well, I have done the ironing and will do some wrapping up before I have lunch; I'm almost there with the wrapping and have posted most of my cards - just a few to get DH to write out for his family! I do all his aunts and so on, but I insist it's his handwriting on the cards for his dad, brothers and sister. It'll be the same old, same old 'what shall I write?' that we get every year - after I've written out dozens of them!

Well, see you later.

Sunnyday your story about your cat is pretty similar to what happened to mine yesterday! Our cat loves bags, she likes to get in them, on them, play with them etc etc. We give her any paper bags we get (like the Primark ones) and she has also decided that a nice blue shopping bag I bought belongs to her. Yesterday OH and I were sitting watching TV in the living room when there was an almighty noise suddenly from the bedroom (ground floor flat so the next room) and cat comes running through. Suddenly she realises that we are laughing ourselves silly and starts acting all nonchalant and pretending that she doesn't have the handle of a paper bag around her neck (loose enough not to hurt) with half a paper bag attached. We couldn't help her for ages for laughing and she was just pottering about pretending nowt was the matter like cats do. I haven't laughed so much for ages. I cut the straps on the blue bag for her so it doesn't happen again.

Not much OS really...except for Twinks with raspberries (yummy but turned green half way through baking, then golden so all good). Going to make lasagne for dinner tonight with some LO mince from the fridge and LO cheese sauce from the fresh pasta we had last night. Sorted most of my christmas pressies, just a couple more to get and all of them to wrap. Must post my sisters bday card and the couple of cards that need posting today...well may be tomorrow too.

Flat is a tip, doesn't seem to matter how much housework I do it never looks any better for long, lol. Also need to get on with some uni work. I am so bad at motivating myself to do things!

*huggles* to Lesley, Tristan, the LO and everyone else who needs one or wants one (sorry if I’ve missed anyone in particular) and my thoughts are with all of those who are suffering. Keep warm and take care.

Off in the bath to get warmed through before facing some uni work I think.
