Morning all, hope you are all well.

Early start for me but I plan to be out mid afternoon (I know, I know:rotfl:). Not much to do today, what I tried to do yesterday didn't work, so it's a bit of damage limitation today. Ran into Dr Jeckyll last night; I'd just popped into that section to use a computer whilst the anti-virus software scanned mine. I think I confused him. I think he doesn't realise my new desk in this department is only 50 yards down the corridor; but I won't be telling him that, otherwise I'll find work sitting on it! :rotfl:

It's really frosty here, I missed the bus because I knew if I ran for it I'd end up on the floor!

I am in a slightly tetchy mood having several times last week had friends assume that now I've finished my PhD I'm just going to look for a "nice little 9 - 5 job" in the area so OH can stay within the university. When I'd come down off the ceiling and I explained that a) I was as qualified (if not more so) so resent the assumption that I'm not cut out for what I do b) that we are not joined at the hip so if I decide to move universities, OH can do what he likes c) I went to college to study, not amuse myself until marriage, they backed off. Normally I'm a very calm and quiet person, but I don't think they will bring that up again :D . I hate those assumptions, even more when they come from people my own age. I guess it irks me more now as I made a lot of career decisions in the past because of other people and it took me a while to become confident enough to realise I didn't have to always be the one that follows.

Not much OS'ing going on as we have a house guest and as much as I like him he gets in the way in the kitchen. I made pancakes for breakfast yesterday. I don't think he's ever see anyone cook before :o

I asked OH to switch the washing machine on, I'm sure he can manage that even with the man-flu. But I did stick a post-it on it to remind him just in case. Have a good day all, cel x

    Morning all

Got back from Manchester yesterday afternoon and have slowly but surely read through the threads and want to say a big THANK YOU for all your birthday wishes. I had a great weekend up there. Met up with my friends from Liverpool and had a good chinwag there. Then went to Old Trafford for the match. Never been before and it was brilliant. The atmosphere in the stadium is something to remember and eventually we actually won. I was getting really worried that I wouldn't be able to drink in the atmosphere of my team scoring a goal, but they didn't let me down and scored right at the end of the match and the place erupted. Took loads of piccies with my new camera that DH bought me for my birthday. It would have helped if the information booket was in english not just every other language known to man . The funny thing was the CD enclosed with the same info to put on your computer WAS in English:confused:

Beds to change today, waiting in for a parcel and then going to pop out for some bits and bobs. Ironing to catch up with too. Have a good day all

Morning Chums ,sorry to hear you had a bad night Pen-pin,hope you day goes a bit better.
Well I'm feeling quite smug this morning I have all my presents wrapped and labelled plus all of my cards written and done so no more trawling round the shops for me . I have to go to the post office this morning to post 4 overseas cards, two to Australia, one to Eire, and one to France .I bet thats going to come to a few bob.All my other cards I have already got stamps for as I buy half a dozen everytime I have to put my prescription into the Dr.s as the P.Office is right by the surgery.Apart from that I have a NSD foodwise as I have got everything in so I shall have almost no shopping to do at all.
Tomorrow I am off to Broadstairs to Thanet catering college with my craft club we are having our Christmas lunch there. I have been before, and its really lovely food served up by the students.Three courses for £15.00 and the food is as good as a west-end restaraunt.
This Friday is my DGS nativity so it will be hankies at the ready as he is a sheppard. Only 17 more days to go till Christmas and I'm so laid back about it I'm almost horizontal.
Have a great day everyone and <<hugs>> to those who are feeling down or blue
    Cheers JackieO

    Morning All

White and frosty here again, the fields opposite look lovely. Heating on at the moment so life is good.

Gonna dry my hair and then get off to Lakeside in a mo. Tired-mum if you see someone at Krispy Creme buying up all the chocolate fudge donughts then thatll be me.

Have a list & hope to finish it once and for all.

Lasagne from the freezer defrosting for dinner tonight and when home I need to make some more bread for packed lunch and do some ironing.

    Have a great day.

    Morning all!

Thanks to you all for your kind thoughts for Lesley, she had a more comfortable day yesterday and was much brighter. I'm popping in to see her in the morning all being well.

Mioliere hope the little one is improving. Your menu for today sounds yummy! good luck with the shortbread, HM is delicious:drool: dont make it often as I cant keep away from the tin!:D

PP - hope you feel better today. We pay about £100 a month but are expecting it to go up as we havent had a gas bill for ages. We' re trying to be more economical with the electric too - trying to get the teenagers to turn things off in their rooms when they are out and I've turned the gas thermostat right down but I feel the cold too so wont turn it off.

Diva - hope Tristan is doing ok (((hugs)))

    Day off today.
plans are - a part time cleaning job this morning then am taking DS1 job hunting round the local supermarkets - he needs motivating! :D
Have taken a sponge from the freezer and just need to pop some icing and jam in it for DH to take when he does his milkround - poor thing its no fun on these cold mornings! He always takes a flask of coffee and an insulate mug to help keep him going too.

    See you all later

    take care x

    Morning everyone

cold and frosty here this morning, hopefully we shall see some sun later.

I`ve hung the washing on the radiator airers again this morning and emptied the dw and bm and cleaned the other bits and bats in the kitchen, i may even atempt the cooker hood later but my main target will be the ironing mountain and the living room.

I have the marvellous job of taking one set of lights off the tree as they are faulty and replacing them wth a spare set and then i shall have to take them back to the shop. I need to go out to fill up with petrol anyway so i may as well do a round trip.

I found the tie backs for the curtains a few days ago and i`ve been looking for some hooks and inwardly dreading the mess that the drilling will make and how awkward it will be but i`ve now solved the problem. I found some small chrome effect cup hooks that look really nice with a square back and a hole on the middle - almost exactly what i was looking to buy for the tie backs and they are self adhesive too. I`ve just finished measuring where they need to be and put them up and i am so pleased with the result. They don`t look like cup hooks at all.:j

Cranky40 - I loved the story about your house rabbit yesterday, DH and i laughed for ages. :rotfl: I love the little ways of the animals and they always amuse me.

Anniebooklover - Thankyou for the Birthday wishes for my Dad yesterday.
We had a lovely afternoon and took him to one of the out of town shopping centres which he really enjoyed.

Wannabee Sybil - Thanks for the advice about the balloons, i doubt that i`ll try them though as i shall have two boisterous hounds to contend with :D
Monster cat is only scared of one thing - carrier bags. As a tiny kitten she used to curl up in them until one day she set off out of the bag too quickly and caught her foot in the handle, she tore around the house at 90 miles an hour with the bag in tow convinced that it was chasing her. I was helpless with laughter with tears streaming down my face and have never seen anything as funny in my entire life as the expression on her face.
She keeps away from them now :D I was thinking of cloves and oranges just to scent the room with something Christmassy but i don`t want to keep the cat away so i may try one orange near the radiator and see what happens, DH was looking at robins for the tree yesterday but from experience years ago i really don`t think that this is a good idea

I shall have another quick cuppa and then walk the houndies befofre i start wrestling with fairy lights GRRR!

    Have a good day peeps.

    PS

Tea tonight is chicken stir fry with spicy wedges MMMMMM!!!!!
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning all,
Just got the whites in off the line after a good frost on them they are whiter than white. DH thinks I'm mad but he did see the difference. Have stripped and re-made our bed and vacumed upstairs with the help of DH. Must phone surgery as I have the stitches out on Wednesday, arm/hand healing nicely.

Plan to decorate the smaller sitting room today, the inglenook beam and 4 ceiling beams, I'll do a bit at a time as my thumb suffers when pushing so many drawing pins into oak. I can never find the holes from last year.

Also must tackle the iron pile. Making some Butternut Squash spicy soup for DH's lunch and put BM on.

Just read through y/days thread, only ONE page. That's a first. All OSers must have been busy OSing.

Hope it's a good day for all.

MIOLIERE, PENPIN, SMOKY,TAPLADY. and all poorlies((((((((hugs))))))))))

:hello: CASPER, Welcome hope you enjoy this thread as much as I do.
