I"Windows 7 is based on Vista" is such a blanket statement. Vista is based on XP, XP is based on the 5 revision kernel, which is based on the 4th revision, etc. They are all based on their predecessor as they haven't done any entire rebuilds since what, DOS? Win98 even has remnants of the 3.x series.

I think the version of Vista known and loved by all is built on Windows Server 2003.

Hmmmm you see, that's a funny area.
Windows Server 2003 is NT 5.2.
Windows XP Pro x64 is NT 5.2.
Windows Home Server...you guessed it! NT 5.2. :o

    MikeWhitehead,

I have just offered you a genuine and gracious apology for an unintentional typing error which offended you.

Are you going to summon the grace, in return, of accepting it? Or don't your own standards rise to that?

Before you question my standards and/or character, my post was already edited to accept your apology. If that is not enough then:

    I accept your apology.

Thank you. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

It was indeed an error - I have a minor eyesight difficulty at the moment.

OK, guys, you can all get back to discussing which version of Windows is the worst! :D

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

And why macs are even worse...

No, I kid. I've never used one so I couldn't tell you. I'm just going to keep away due to the ludicrous costs. You can't argue that they're not expensive. I prefer to use linux if I ever feel the need to get away from windows for a while.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.
