The Pioneer DVR-110D is only a slight upgrade from the 109 with dvd-ram read as said. The Pioneer DVR-110 is the only one with dvd-ram write capability it was released in October 2005.
  • as its not the drive everyone was assuming it was, its not such a good deal.

other places do them for 29.99, ( albeit plus post) but then if you want some discs (as play dont do printable discs, only maxell ones) and paper for covers at the same time, then it sort of levels that out a bit.

if this were a 110 for 29.99 its worthy of the quick grabit board.
but as its the 110D , i personally dont think it is.

Thanks dc for your response. I've emailed play to see what they say but don't expect much of a response.
The one they've sent will do for what I need but it's nice to get what is advertised instead of a poorer substitute.
    Thanks again,
    finc.

I have activated the return option and added that it will cost at least £5 to return, so if they are prepared to agree on a suitable mutually agreeable discount, I will keep it. No answer yet ;)

  • well the spec now states it does ram at 5x
so anyone who recieved the 110d should demand a replacement for the 110

screen print the spec page before they change it tho.

If your delivery address is outside of Jersey, you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country; Play.com advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information.

Not sure I would buy from them with a value over £18.

This is posted from inside UK, ie Middlesex, so no duty. Other items like dvds are split into seperate packages less than £18 to avoid duty, that is what is upsetting the cud chewing, fat cats friend and occupant of 11 Downing St. ;)

at the moment the dual layer isnt really a viable option, at the moment its just too dear.

the cheapest discs i can find are £1.50 each.Better ones are £2.00
single layer are just 26p for a good quality make.

the burn speed of dual layer is 2.4 at that price too, for a faster speed the discs go up to £4

by the time the media is at a sensible price, new drives will be out, at the same sort of money, so hold off if you have a dvd writer that does the job perfectly well with regular dvd.

I wouldn't agree with that. Blue-Ray or HD-DVD writers won't be commercially available for a while, and when they are they are more likely to cost into the hundred (as opposed to £30).

Also the media will be pricey, which will most likely force the price of dual layer discs down. It'll be just like any other new technology, I remember when I bought my first dvd-writer for £180, and discs were £3 a disc. In fact my first cd-writer alone was £150 back in the day and I can remember paying £1 a disc.
