You need an external 5.25" drive enclosure (sometimes also called a caddy). Should be available at PCworld or online, within £30 or so.
If you have a firewire port on your laptop, I'd advise a firewire and USB2.0 (USB2) caddy, else just the USB2 one is fine.
If you don't have USB2 on your laptop (check the specs) but just USB1 you might find I'd suggest getting a USB2 adaptor for your laptop as well.
Finally, make sure you get a power supply with the caddy as USB and firewire ports can't deliver enough power, and that the firewire or USB cable comes with the caddy.
Windows XP and 2000 should automatically allow the use of the drive with software like Nero (or indeed the inbuilt burning in WinXP), but you might need drivers with other operating systems. The thanks button is here to the right. Thanks, my other half was just about to order one from Ebuyer before I saw this thread & this is £8 cheaper
nitinpatil, in order for you to use this with your laptop you will need either a firewire or usb 2.0 connection on your laptop. usb 1.0 won't work because it's too slow to write to dvds. It costs about £35 inc delivery for an enclosure that does both usb 2.0 & firewire. You can get an enclosure here, they also sell cheap dvd-rs:

Actually, I'd check out the price of external DVD drives (you can get ones by LG, Freecom, Lacie, etc.)... LG make VERY good drives that do all the DVD writing formats and it'll work out about the same without the hassle! The thanks button is here to the right.
