thats good, sounds like vw will be getting you a new engine then. i wouldnt accept any less. if the belt was fitted properly then it can only be down to the belt or the tensioners, all of which should be vw parts,so its up to vw to sort it now, with the dealer of course.0

the garage said they would sort things, but no mention of a new engine. How would I be sure that the engine had been changed? My Dad really has lost confidence in the garage and is seriously thinking of getting someone else to inspect the engine even after the repairs have been done/
if the timing belt snapped at speed then there is good chance there could be serious damage done to several major engine components, rather than fixing this it may be cheaper to replace the whole engine. if this is a problem caused by poor parts or bad workmanship and the garage have admitted to either of these then i would be pushing for a brand new engine from vw nothing less.
even if the engine is repaired it may not run just as well as it once did....work permit granted!0 -

They won't fit a new engine (why would they???), worst end it will be a few bent valves, the labour will be the biggy not the parts."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
