Disastrous Car Servicing... anyone legally minded?

Put your claim into the Lanarkshire garage, don’t negotiate with them, if they refuse to pay up, take it to the small claims court.
What claim would this be??
The garage sent a truck for the dead car, and provided a loaner.
What else should they have done?
And given that it's not their car what contract do they have with the garage anyway?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

OP - have had a brief read of your problems and have a response.
It shall, alas, take me a good half hour to post, so I will do it tomorrow due to my usual Saturday lcohol intake far exceeding the government's RDA for the week.0 -

Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Read the OP comments again Dave, the answer to your question is starring at you.
Again, it's not their car, what contract do they have with the garage who serviced it for it's actual owner.
And given the situation what more could they have done???"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

We would need to claim for the car hire which we had to make due to the loss of my Dad's car. After all if the service had been performed correctly then we would not have been in the situation where we were left at the side of the M6 on a freezing cold day with 2 kids in a car, no power to the car, having to arrange transportation of the car to the Cambridge garage. Their manner was very offensive and aggressive especially when two different garages had mentioned that the cam belt was incorrectly or incompetently fitted. They could have been the architects of 4 fatalities on the M6.
Brooker Dave>> What would you do if you had been in the same situation? I'm sorry but to think that we were put in such a potentially terrible situation due to incompetence really is a concern. And added to the expense, and loss of "holiday" time. Remember it's almost Christmas and we had planned to spend on our kids, but that'll have to be curtailed a bit too.....0 -

Dave, the OP is out of pocket, they wish to reclaim those losses back, it's stated in the OP first post, why can't you read the post correctly, I stated above, the answer to your question is starring at you.
The OP is out of pocket through their own choice, ie turning down the loaners insurance and instead making their own arrangments."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Dictionary definition of Ignorance should read - Brooker Dave.
Let's have a recap.
Someone borrows a car.
It breaks down along way from home.
The resuce people get it to a garage.
It then transpires that it's a bigger issue and it's carted off to the main dealer.
Engine could be U/S so the dealer who serviced it send down a truck and a loan car.
Perhaps if you could be so good as to explain what more they could have done, and why the OP should be stomping off to court, and what exactly they would be sueing for?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"
