  • ooo i also forgot, my dad is getting me the slow cooker, but he said if i wait till january i can have a shiny silver one!!!
  • didnt want to read and run so thought i would say hello and congrats on baby no 2!!!!!!! i had my second bambino 24 august this year!!!
least the second time round you will know what you will use and not buy everything the mags tell you!!!!!!!!!!

have you got an asda near you?? they have always got offers on baby products like wipes, nappies etc. i get 104+ pampers nappies for ds2 (4 mnths) for a tenner and 4 packs of pampers sensitive wipes for a fiver.

also if you havent already join boots parent club as you get a voucher which gives you double points on their baby brands every time you buy them. (you can then buy the nice perfume cosmetics with the points without feeling guilty!!)

hope you have a better 2009 than you did this year, time is a great healer so they say!!

    love rags

  • Hello, I'm new here too and am by no means an experienced moneysaver yet, however I did notice your water rates seem high, we are a family of 4 with only a bath (no shower) and are metered for water & ours is £25 pcm. Could you get a meter maybe that would save you a few £££'s every month?
Also do you use branded nappies or stores own? I find Sainsbury's own brand nappies very good and they're loads cheaper than pampers.
Good luck with sorting it all out, you've faced up to it now & are taking steps to sort things out & it is so easy to get into a mess when your head's in other places. Also, how much you owe is irrelevant to how worrying your problem is to you, if your outgoings exceed your income it's scary.
    Emma :hello:
  • rags - i have just signed back up to boots parenting club, and am going to join the tesco one too (but the online form doesnt work) and also use asda or sainsburys for wipes, esp when sainsburys have them half price, 4 packs of huggies wipes for £2.50!!!!

emmilee - right now, as we are going to have to move im going ot leave the water as it is (i know thats not exactly DFW, but i dont want the bills to go down just for them to go back up once we are in a house)

i will be using huggies nappies, at least until jelly baby is into size 3, they just seemed to be the best newborn nappies when DD was born, and i can get them quite cheply in the newborn starter kits at boots (1 pack size 1 nappies, 1 pack wipes, and socks £5 and BOGOF!!!!)
  • I'd like to make a suggestion with regards to wipes. Don't automatically go for the Bogof offers. Look at the label on the shelf. It will tell you how much each wipe costs. Sometimes the money off ones or bagged multipacks can be slightly dearer per wipe. Same with the nappies.
Another suggestion is check out Nct website. They list nearly new sales that are in your area. Everything there is great pricewise. If this baby is a son you could sell all your daughter's old clothes and toys and offset that money against what you spend on son. I always buy from there for my son. We picked up a lovely Ralph Lauren shirt for 20p. Most of his clothes were designer but for stupid money. Most of them could only have been worn once if at all. It's very rare ds gets new clothes from us.
    Congratulations
  • we will be finding out the sex, so if its a girl, we dont ned to got much clothes wise, and if its a boy i can ebay the girl stuff and see what boy stuff i can get.

with the wipes, i really prefer huggies, they are thicker than other wipes, so i always get a few of the multipacks when they are half price in sainsbury's as its £2.50 for 4 packs, when they are usually £2.50 per pack.

i will check out the nct sales as there is one held close to me

    Hi
Just a thought but join boots/tesco babyclubs from reading on other threas you will get lots of money off coupons.
Also try looking at the vouchers thread and boots/tesco threads to get ideas for saving money.
I never went in boots except at Christmas, thought it was too expensive but since reading the boots thread i go in quite a bit now and get lots of deals, this saved me quite a bit at Christmas.
    :money:
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

But do check because sometimes the multipacks have less wipes in the packet so you think you are getting a bargain but in fact you are not. Just a word of warning to check the single wipe price on the shelf ticket.
I'm not up on ebay so don't know if you would get more for the clothes on there compared to nct. But with nct you don't have to do anything apart from price up the item and drop it off. They sell it all and work out how much money you will get. You just have to donate 25% of the total sales which is not bad considering they do all the work.
  • oh right thats great!!! i think i will go with nct then

just checked the wipes and yes they are still full packs of 72 wipes woohoo!
  • £2.97 on groceries today, that will see us through to CB day next tuesday!!!
