Hello bumblebee - was about to suggest Freecycle myself, but now see others have done so.
    Another good thing -
phone THIS Freephone no 0800-505555(don't be fobbed off if they give you an 0845 no, just ask to be transferred) and apply for a Tesco Clubcard PLUS for double points. Save these to use on Clubcard DEALS FOR 4x their face value.
They'll send you an application form; you return it with a bank statement and recent utility bill(required by law). It may take a week or three, BUT PLEASE, PLEASE DO IT - absolutely worthwhile.

There's lots of advice on the Threads - just check out 'Clubcard Plus' in the Forum search and Martin recommends it strongly.
This way you can look forward to little treatie Days Out en famille, all sorts of things.
It works for some utility bills, car expenses and other things too.

Definitely go shopping around 7-8 pm if/when you can, or whenever you find your Mr T does the big reductions for the day.
    It makes a huge difference.

Make your own bread too - your dd will love it and yeast is free from Mr T(by law), and other supermarkets. It's not difficult, just daunting to think of if you've never done it before. It's easy-peasy, fun and gratifying - very good for the soul. You can get rid of a lot of angst kneading and pounding dough. You can slice and freeze your loaves, which then toast beautifully.

How about making sweets at home together, too? - easy to find recipes on mse or by googling.

Good luck - hope op. for oh goes well and doesn't, after all, mitigate against that promotion.

Just went back to find an old post where I rahrah'd on about Clubcard Plus for another Thread(I do it a lot, as the lovely pania knows! As you have her here with you, you have a wonderful friend on board.)

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/sho...-scheme-tricks
(Go down to the bottom, purple banner section with comparison table)
I drone on recommending this in any post where I think I can get away with it.
Then, put Clubcard Plus into Form search and progress through other links and posts - interesting to note that its demise was being warned of as far back as 2005. I'd still hurry along and apply.
Shall say here: ring them on Freephone 0800-505555, option 6, tell person you want an appn for CC+. They may try to fob you off to another 0845(payable)no. Just ask for tfr to appropriate dept - form will come to you in 5 working days. Govt Legislation requires that you supply Bank Statement and Utility Bill or similar - the usual. Fill in the DD for £1 mthly minimum, but Mon>Fri you can 'bank' money at CS which is instantly available. Then use your CC+ to pay for shopping. Online tfr or w/e cash top-up will take a day or three.
DOUBLE POINTS ON ALL SHOPPING - AND DON'T FORGET GREEN BAG RE-USE POINTS.
IT'S PRECISELY BECAUSE THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SCHEME IT IS NOT PUBLICISED BY MR T.
    ###########
I emphasise how easy it is to go straight to the CS desk,'bank' however much or little you want to cover shopping/petrol, then you sign a tillslip to pay using your Clubcard Plus at the checkout.
It's so easy. You'll have 8Xpoints on PAYG top-up, too - I always check up via the freephone no a few days later, to make sure they've been added.
Double points for using your own bags, too, remember. Use big 'uns, these are already worth 2pts, rather than 1..
As Mr T is shrinking his points extras for much smaller and very much fewer money-off deals, we need to be point-alert.
Big hugs to you and your family.

You've done really well - if I say don't forget the other things above, it's not by way of bumping my own post, but because these are good, easy, morale-enhancing things you can can do for yourself, your family, your self-esteem.

    Have a lovely week.
