New kitten....questions & advice (merged)

What you have to agree is that, we are all capable of making informed decisions through "Choices" of our OWN. If we had/do decide to let our cat breed, we would seek professional advice on how/when to.
You will not be breeding pedigree cats though, you are not a breeder. You would be classed as a BYB breeding just for the sake of it. You kitten will have up to 6 kittens, who could grow up to have more kittens each themselves and so on and on read this:

Personally I dont see the breeding of pedigree cats (or dogs) as any better than the breeding of moggies (or mongrels) - its all part of the same over-populaton issue - more cats and dogs than there are suitable homes is the root of the problem.
Neutering and rescuing are the way to go, ethically!0 -
Thanks, I will read this. I tend to agree with the Foreign response too.....And who's to say we do not have a pedigree cat?0

Neutering and rescuing are the way to go, ethically!
Breeders who sell their pedigree kittens always find homes for them and they do not end up in rescues. If Angel was a registered breeder who always found long term homes for the kittens then i'd be alright with that. Pedigree breeding cats are always checked for genetic diseases and problems before they are allowed to have litters. BYB cannot ensure the kittens are healthy or found loving homes and many are just dumped when it gets too much.0 -
The breed rescues look pretty busy as well kimberley - and every bred cat (pedigree or not) takes up a home a rescue cat could have. Its a numbers game, we have more cats than homes, and unprecedented numbers of animals being dumped due to the credit crunch - so is it really ethically sound to breed at the moment? I think not.0

And don't assume it's "for the sake of it" Who are you to demand of ME what to do!
There's something missing here Kimberley. I am not sure of where and why they have arisen and focused on me in such an unpleasant, insultive, mis-guided manner.
Maybe, such opinions should be aimed at an appropriate situation/cause you are abviously so passionate about.
That I cannot question.0 -
I'm talking about people who let their moggie out unspayed to get pregnant and only then when kittens are born do they realise how difficult raising them can be. Many people do not consider the cats welfare at all. I got my two Bengals from a breeder. I doubt someone would i'll treat or dump a cat that they have paid out like that for.
I know someone who let her cat have 5 litters. She just didn't care.0 -
Angel i'm sorry you are right and i'm wrong, I apologise. I hope you find loving homes for your kittens.0
