  • I think a little friend would be good for her, my two are VERY affectionate towards me but I'm glad they have each other. Every time they're playing/sleeping/tumbling around together they would be looking to me for that interaction if there was just one of them and much as I love them I do have other stuff to get on with.

If you go to a rescue you can describe her personality and they'll do their best to match up another cat that would suit her.

I'm not sure a rescue would let me have a cat though
It would be kept inside for a start, as I live beside one of the biggest main roads in this town, cars flying past everywhere, I have a young daughter.....would they let me have one? I've heard of them being very picky, though I wouldn't buy another cat! I'd probably just keep an eye out for people trying to rehome one. I noticed a couple of ads like that in the local rag today, though if they are moving country, and are distressed at having to rehome, why are they wanting you to pay £85 for the priveledge?! Mad.

I WOULD like another cat, just because everyone has a different personality.

My cat has taken to grooming me of late, is that weird? She will sit behind me and lick my hair, or start licking my legs. It feels kinda nice though :rotfl:
  • I don't think the indoor thing will be too big an issue, given how you describe your location it would probably be insisted upon. How old is your daughter? I know most rescues don't like rehoming to homes with very young kids although the fact that you already have a cat that isn't traumatised and tormented by your daughter is a good sign :D

Have a think about it and if you do decide to get her a little friend here's a list of rescues in the UK - just click on the map for rescues in your area.

Yeah they are getting on quite well. Phillip is being a bit rough when they play but Mike is learning very quickly to fight back. Phillip has been licking Mike and they shared a bowl of scrambled egg last night. (Mike has got a bit of a poorly tummy so we are fed him plain scrambled egg and dry kitten food - that's ok isn't it?)

So yes all is going well in the world of Mike and Phillip :j

The scrambled egg is good - I would leave out the dry kitten food at the moment until the tummy is calmer (much of the prepared cat food is rather over-rich these days) and maybe use a bit of chicken and plain white rice boiled up together for a couple of days to "rest" the tummy. Might just be the move and a few "nerves" doing it.

Some photographic evidence is needed here ;)

Much as I like pedigree cats (Bengals in particular are absolutely stunning) I really don't get the 'I could never have a moggy/ different breed' that Pedigree owners often come out with.

My two moggies are the most loving, gentle, funny, sweet, athletic, beautiful cats with the most amazing little personalities... I could go on :D They're not all these things because of their breed (or lack of!) but simply because they are cats!

I do agree: but I can also see some of the attractions of some pedigrees although I do have concerns that if they continue to breed for certain "show characteristics", for instance very "squashed" faces in Persians then we may well see the same health problems that have been produced and exacerbated in dogs.:o

No criticism for anyone here, and I love those squashed faces myself: I just think we need to be very cautious when we set "standards" for animals that are not entirely what nature intended, and then use a very limited gene-pool to produce them.

my cat's are 10 years old and they still fight, one minute they are each others best friend curled up together on the rug the next minute it's claw's at 10 paces. Alot like human sisters really most of the time i love her, and sometimes i want to scratch her eye's out.

    it's perfectly normal

One of my cats does this she loves grooming my hair especially when it needs washed!
I have noo idea why she does this but she is quite a clingy cat too and just loves attention.

I think she thinks she is doing me a favour when she grooms me, I let her do it if I'm going to wash my hair anyway but not too much in case she chokes.:rotfl:

  • Mine are 18mths old and have done this since we got them, they're brothers. It's absolutely hilarious! It's all they did as kittens and they do it a few times a day still now.

I have three cats - two Siamese and one Foreign white - one of the Siamese is a kitten and a lot of the time he instigates fights and then sits back and watches. :rotfl:

The two older girls will chase each other and bat each other at times, especially if they want to steal the other's seat, usually my knee! Generally the kitten will just jump on one of the older cats and it's quite funny to watch. He especially likes to try it on with the Boss (our oldest cat who is 8) and she gets rid of him quite quickly.

Interestingly, sometimes when the kitten is annoying one of the girls they will run over to the other girl and bite her instead of him! It's like "Well he's just a baby but I'm annoyed so I'll go and bite her". I love just watching them interact as they have such different personalities.

I have a one year old cat who is a bit clingy. She also stands outside the bathroom and makes a right fuss even if there is someone else in the house.

She stands on the back of the setee and grooms my boyfriend's hair!
