Literaly couldnt find anything at 50% off today, not even 40%. Most of it was 10% with a few 20%. All was tat.
Ill be pleased when it goes and we can have a decent shop.0

I agree - it was misleading so there are bound to be complaints. Shame people take it out on the staff though as its not their fault and they have enough to worry aboutNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550

I take everything I said back! my local store had nothing of interest, few toys half price but still cheaper elsewhere.
Today I went to a bigger store (Wrexham) and it was great!
Got a Bike for my son was £109.99, half price to £45, then 20% off it then the VAT off, brought it to under £32!
They had loads of scooters (High school musical, scoobu doo, fireman sam) for £12-15 insted of £30+
If I could have got more in the car I would have!0

The important words being UP TO in the smallest possible letters, and 50% in MASSIVE letters. This was clearly designed to mislead people to get them in store. It is clear that the administrators don't care a stuff about generating any ongoing customer positive feeling towards what remains of the Woolies brand. It clearly says UP TO 50% OFF on all the banners
This can only mean one thing - the administrators are trying to screw as much money out of the customers as they can, before they close the stores down for good. Their current actions make it quite clear that they don't see Woolies as a going concern, and they won't be selling it as one. They will clear out as much Woolies branded tat as they can at 40%-50% off, the remainder at 10-20% off, and the non-Woolies branded good stuff which has actual value (PS3s, DVD Players, TVs, Games, DVDs, etc.) they will reduce only slightly before passing on the remaining stock to a 3rd party reseller - they will NOT be clearing it out at 50% off.
Don't expect any real discounts in the New Year Sales, because a lot of Woolies stores won't be reopening after Christmas.
Are they in any way similar to the ones that every other retailer sells at £15?? No way would anyone pay £30 for a kid's scooter - another example of the old Woolies Xmas sale trick of pre-printing labels with massively inflated prices, and knocking "50% off" to bring the item down to a similar non-sale price everywhere else. They had loads of scooters (High school musical, scoobu doo, fireman sam) for £12-15 insted of £30+You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

yes because the sale started on friday and u reached on the monday... three full days AFTER the start... of course there wasnt anything but entertainment left. every1 cleared out the 50% off stuff!elektra-2007 wrote: »I went in to woolies today it was absolutly rubbish there was hardly anyhting at 50% off only rubbish and the chocs were more expensive than supermarkets even wioth 20% off! for example tubes of sweets £1.50 a tube! tins of quality street £10! A ps2 £98 them 10% off =£88.20 cheaper everywhere else. My advice be very carfull dont be taken in by the advertising and check out other stores first.0

It's simple - the sign means "50% off SOMETHING" - and that something could be a fraction of what they have on sale. How can you have "Upto 50% OFF Everything"? Just doesn't make sense
I had thought that Trading Standards/ASA had some rule that stipulated that in this sort of sale you had to offer at least 10% of the sale items at the "UP TO" discount, but this was definitely not the case in my Woolies. Presumably by the time the authorities catch up with Woolies the administrators/company will be long gone?
NOT true - I went to the sale on Friday am and my Woolies had a small section at the front with 50% off - in fact all the stuff that they would have had in their usual Xmas sale anyway (which Woolies usually start on about Xmas eve). The rest of the store had labels of 10%, 20% and 30% off. The clothes were not discounted at all, and the 3 for 2 offers on chocolate etc. had been withdrawn. This was not, and never would be, a clearance sale of all stock at major discounts - you would have been better off with the 20% F&F discount the previous weekend.yes because the sale started on friday and u reached on the monday... three full days AFTER the start... of course there wasnt anything but entertainment left. every1 cleared out the 50% off stuff! You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
