The Woolworths is a big shop in my small town and will leave a massive hole if it closes down. Many of the staff have been there for years and years. Very sad for them. I worked at the same store as a Saturday girl in the 60's. It was my first ever job and I seem to recall that my weekly pay packet (cash in a brown envelope of course) was 16s 4d. When I worked a full week in my school holidays, I got £3 10s 0d. I was rich beyond my wildest dreams!!! In those days you could buy virtually everything at Woolies California Poppy perfume anyone?:rotfl: They do seem to have lost their way in recent years. I am not sure what their niche market is now. Other stores do everything better.
