  • you want to know one MAJOR thing everyone that's complaining (including me) is failing to see.

By continuing to lambast Woolies for how ridiculous this farce of a sale actually is, we're giving Woolies more promotion than they could possibly dream of.... I know it's 90% negative but Woolies is on the tip of everyone's tongues at the moment which has to be a good thing.

Everyone venting is not only clogging up this thread with largely repetitive posts but keeping 'WOOLIES' as the hottest topic on this forum.

I'd like to refer back to my post at the very BOTTOM of Page 9 of this forum because I just want to agree with others about the fact that this sale 100% reiterates exactly why Woolies is going down the toilet.

That is absolutely my last word on the matter and I would emplore everyone else that agrees with me, that this sale is the biggest joke EVER, to make ONE post about it and then STOP forever and simply watch as Woolies disappears.

It is supposed to be a forum about bargains so let the very few people that believe they've found one post here and hopefully, within a few days, this entire listing will disappear down the list as Woolies disappear down the toilet.
  • I went today and got a few bit -

    Transformers minis £1.20 (were £2.99)

My Little Pony mini playdoh 64p
Dr Who sound watch 80p!! (was around £7-£8!)
    Barbie crackers 70p

Also saw large cuddly bunnies (around 1 1/2 ft in height) reduced to £1 plus 20% off but resisted as we have far too many cuddlies in this house already.

Lots of kids swim bags for 50p, melamine bowls eg Spiderman 50p, lunchboxes for £1 - £2 each included McQueen and Bratz. Also all gone at our store but may be worth checking out your local Fifi Moon Chairs £7 plus 20% off I believe - the Disney Princess ones are £22.99!!!

    Are you sure?

BTW - bought three Christmas cards tonight in the Milton Keynes store at 50% off - £2.97 in total.
How is it a made up discount??
I saw lots of stuff that was not labelled as being on discount - sorry - I didn't realise that EVERYTHING was discounted. However, the Xmas stuff which is pre-printed with stickers saying HALF PRICE £14 now £7 are part of the made up discounts which Woolies has been trying to use for years, and which always come out at Xmas/New Year.
If you all shopped at Woolies before, we might not be in administration now, just remember that :-(
I understand exactly how you feel, and every job loss will be a tragedy for you and your family. Me and my kids go into Woolies almost every Saturday, but unfortunately 3 times out of 4 we walk out without buying anything because either there are computer game boxes on shelf which are empty and not in stock (a perennial problem at Woolies), or games and DVDs they want are too expensive, or they don't have school shoes in the right sizes, or the sweets are too overpriced, or there is only one person serving at the till ....
Unfortuntely I have a duty to my family to get a good deal so we can save money for ourselves, and for the past couple of years (but not in the further past) I can get most stuff we want at Tesco or Asda MUCH cheaper than in Woolies. It is this problem which means they are going to go bust - the market has moved on, and Woolies didn't.

I got girls school summer dresses (two pack) for £2 - I know they would be on sale this time of year anyway, but £1 per dress is brilliant.

Also got girl's school cardigans and skirts, both for £1.50 each
  • The Liverpool Woolies had some PS2, Xbox and PC games in paper sleeves for £1, and some CDs in there (mostly KT Tunstall and Robbie Williams) also £1.

In the stationery section I picked up a pink Parker Vector fountain pen and ballpoint pen set with a pack of 5 +1 ink cartridges for £3.20. Exactly like this one but with cartridges instead of the case:

I've coupled that with the pink leather briefcase from Argos for £6.09 and the pink A4 folio case from WHSmiths for £2.93.

Not for everyone, but with a bit of inventive thinking, when all put together, a great gift for £12.22 which looks a lot more expensive. :j

  • I got a DVD player for £4 today Its a Woolworths Worth It Brand & there was no remote control in the box - but Im more than happy for 4 quid!!

Also took advantage of the 10% off pick n mix - DD with me so kept her quiet while I searched around for the hidden bargains!!!
  • Got a small weekend suitcase, reduced from £30 to £5 scanned at £4 stonking bargian, 2 left yesterday at Bolton branch. Not much left in the pick and mix tho!!!
