No, i am aware that the discount applies, and i did say there were SOME bargains. However, if you take into consideration the bulk of the kids toys and clothes, you can find them cheaper elsewhere including the 20% discount taken off at the till. (eg - Star wars lego, all the bratz dolls, all the disney dolls, Hannah Montana.. ect. Believe me, ive been looking at this stuff for long enough!)OnePoll - £12.40, Yougov - £1.00, VO - £24.25, youdoo miles - 24292, MHF - £0.00
Not much, but its a start :rotfl:
Helpful?? Moi?? Hook me up>>>>>>>>>>>

My local Woolies was packed too. The queues were right to the door so buying things in lunch hour was out of the question.
Random thoughts
If they are discounting just now are there going to be even better discounts post Christmas?
Strikes me I can get next year's cards, wrapping, staionery etc for pennies after Christmas.
Feel sorry for the staff working so hard today then possibly getting the elbow in a couple of weeks.
The way people were spending today the 'Credit Crunch' was the last thing on peoples' minds.
I can't help feeling that a buying frenzy aymosphere was created and folks must have been buying stuff for the sake of the discount and not because they needed it.
It appears the administrators know a thing or two about getting the shops busy. Perhaps they should have been in charge all along?
If Theo Paphitis could get his hands on this business he would turn it round no problem Everybody loves Woolies!0 -
According to this article on the BBC (about staff being laid off), administrators are saying that stores will remain open and the sale continue after Christmas: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7766810.stm0

Makes sense really, as they'll have plenty of stock to get rid of even of they do want to wind down to close.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Just heard on my local radio that 450 admin staff are to be laid off BEFORE christmas at the Rochdale (Castleton) centre, now I do feel sorry for them the timing is dreadful, but of late the retail stores have been crap, and I mean for months now, same old tat in the shops (apart from the entertainment stuff) and staff that are ignorant and unhelpful, so overall I won't miss the retail stores at all. I remember the outcry when first C & A and then Littlewoods closed but they had fallen into the same rut when it came to what they were selling, i.e they hadn't moved with the times.0

Am also going back for kiddie clothes and some more investigation. Went in looking for specifics during work break so didnt get chance to check all the deals out, but love the hot wheels deal, my boy would be ecstatic!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Rant over - I managed to get a dvd player for DS - I didnt end up getting the £7.49 one as couldnt see it?!?!?!? But I'm glad as I did manage to get a Disney Cars one, - was £60 (apparently?) then £20, then a sticker over the top of that sticker saying £15 so got it down to £12 with 20% offer today. Very Happy. Picked up some baubels that were already half price then 30% off again so £3 - £1.50 and I got them for £1.05, gold with glitter and sparkles over them. I also got a Dora the Explorer musical book that was already half price from £9.99 to £5 so £4 with discount DD will get that for birthday next year. Posters for DS - WWE and Arsenal for £2, tho it should have been £3.50 for both as £7 offer for 2 origianlly but I wasnt going to quibble over 50p, in the current situation. I got a double duvet, 2 pillows and a matress protector all in one pack for £8, was £17 then £10 so happy with that!!
I will go back over the weekend and see what else is around once the mayhem dies down :-)))0
