Have to say I would support uganda as I can see he/she is trying to counter the aggressive posts and keep the thread for advising the op! It's been said several times that these boards seem to have lost their way (mse - advice - respect) recently. We are now a long way ot, but I think it needed to said, hopefully (especially since the demise of a certain poster;)) we can return to being helpful and supportive.

And I don't think it's fair or relevant to set up uganda on a new thread either

I dont think anyone is "setting" uganda up mate, I think she has huge potential on MSE, I can see her reasons, and appreciate what she is trying to achieve, but you know yourself, there are better ways of dealing with such issues and I for one think Uganda has the potential to deal with them constructively and sensibly.

But you cant feed fire with fire, it just makes a bigger fire, thats when other users are likely to try to put the flames out before the thread is gutted. back to a catch 22.

I like Uganda, which is why I choose to back her up on this issue, as well as try to assist in supporting her.

Edna, as much as he Trolls, does at times post imformative posts, and does have a potential to be imformative as oppose to abusive, however I have seen his abusive posts and I have also seen his demise of friends on here (one by one PPR) its only a matter of time before he suffers the PPR, unless he "wises" up.

To be popular in MSE, you have to earn respect, No TROLL to date has ever earned respect, nor ever will (apart from the one after the other PPR Troll Clan), I have seen Trolls return and apoligise for Trolling, completely turning over a new leaf, and becoming a better person all round for it.

Mornin' marley, Don't know if you saw, but there is a thread set up for uganda and edna - like you say, just fanning flames really, and the poster has missed the point that uganda has been trying to discourage the negative posting by edna. Thankfully, the only respondent so far is edna.

btw - have you seen the newbie, Matbuckski? Can you do anagrams? ;);):eek:

To get back ot and respond to the op - I think that supermarkets will try and lull us with their strident claims of responding to the credit crunch, but I don't think the price rise noticed by chalky will be isolated;)
  • Beat Tesco at their own game,

Find a store that takes Money Off Coupons without buying the product/ If you are really lucky and find a store that will let you use 100% then you can shop free, (Then no supermarket can beat the price). Even if your local store has the more restrictive policys (And they vary by the day)., Like only 5 Coupons or 20% of your bill, the system can still be worked well to your advantage to lower tescos prices to well below any other supermarket.

Since the Clubcard points have dried up. (Managed to get 2 free cars with these this year). We are now shopping with Money Off Coupons instead. and creative shopping means you can come out well on top of them

If you have some time and effort, its been well worth it for us.

If you aren't happy with the price rises then do something about it, email or contact tesco and ask what they are playing at

Very true, they control over 30% of food spend and £1 in seven of all retail is spent at Tescos. That degree of control over consumer spend is partly as a result of our own collective laziness over many years in just going somewhere easy. However the goalposts are changing and we are entering a new era, where many of us will be much more mindful of what we have paid for items and how much they are going up.

Maybe its time to start vent stickies for each of the major supermarkets where we can post their pricing cons and keep each other mutually informed.
