Maybe but I'd rather not have them in my store.

Too many people think its ok to be rude to shop staff in order to get what they want.

Shop staff are in many instances treated atrociously by customers. I had a nice customer who apologised for taking such a long time on deciding on her purchase today. I told her it was a pleasure 'cos she was so nice and nice customers are few and far between :D

I agree that swearing at customers is not nice but I can understand how it happens. If you are being sworn at then why shouldn't you swear back? I'm not saying its right and I do not swear at customers but am just asking the question.

The second a customer swears at me or my staff they stop being served and if they do not leave the store as asked then the centre security is called and I have them removed. It is not acceptable and my staff do not get paid enough for the abuse they recieve.

I think if a customer does swear at you then the customer should be banned from the shop for good. However, by not swearing back at them (and I know it takes a lot of self control) but you do in fact get the upper hand by not lowering yourself to their level! Personally, I know people swear when they are angry but what I object to is the people who just use swearing as part of their everyday conversation - its horrible to hear and not nice for my kids to hear.

I must say when customers swear at you it gets so hard holding your tongue and not raising your voice and saying something back though!!!

  • I forgot I had posted this......oops! Was really mad that day though.

The opening hours I was given were the special bank holiday hours which is why I was so hacked off about it - and it meant I missed the offer they had on that day.

I never did get round to complaining about it to my discredit on this occasion (not like me) but I can assure those of you who work for B&Q or know someone who does, I do not swear at staff (in fact I try to make sure I am calm enough to get my point across).

I see where you are going on the "unexplained reason" thing - maybe they had an electrical failure or something but I don't suppose I will ever know for sure. I had assumed they had just decided to close because they were quiet (in which case they should really have got their automated call line up to date - charge more than a normal call just to give the wrong information).

The branch was the large B&Q at Fort-Kinnaird, Edinburgh.

When did you ring the automated line?

If the automated line was for that specific day - ie they had altered the times for christmas - then they may have had to shut for some unexplained reason.

Were shops allowed to be open this late on that day?

Agree with Ivan-being sweet and polite keeps you in control-AND they cant complain about you.But i think there a big difference between bullies and people who are angry cos the companies treated them badly.A person who tells a member of staff to **** off needs kicking out ofthe shop.,and the only reason to use abusive language is if its been used to you.
