how funny people swearing- hilarious NOT

It wasn't the swearing i was laughing at but the mere fact that B&Q tell them to go Homebase and vice versa.
in my book, no matter how rude, ignorant, etc. a customer was I would not stoop to that level

I have yet to see a retail training manual or any chain that has customer service requiring swearing

Stoop?? Maybe in your books but in some people books it just words. Why are people so uptight about swearing?? I don't swear but i don't care if i hear it. People should loosen up and just except that people swear these days and if they have got a problem then ignore it.

Oh by the way, In my books swearing is just as bad as being sarcastic so what makes what you did any better than what my dad and his manager did?

  • I've stopped shopping at B&Q since they recently started charging 5p and 10p for their own cheap plastic bags with B&Q stamped all over them.

Having just spent £35 I was told I woud have to pay 5p for a bag. I tried to negociate a free bag but got nowhere and left feeling ripped off. I know it's only 5p but it's the principal and all those 5p's and 10p's that they are screwing out of customers add up. My options were limited at the time as I had my young daughter with me, but after I left, I wished I had told them to stick it and taken my business elsewhere.

I won't be going back and I must have spent £100's there over the last few years. I hope other customers will see this for the rip off that it is and also vote with their feet.

  • Sorry but never had a problem yet with B&Q in store or customer services or delivery. Always found the staff to be more than helpfull and polite too. I personnaly think homebase is tacky and wouldnt dream of shopping there.

    Just my opininon ;)

Not intended as a personal attack towards you at all but I am all for a small charge being made for carrier bags - if it results in less bags making their way from the store and potentially adding to the numbers already blowing across our streets as it is then it has to be an excellent plan.

I'm all for it and think that more stores should adopt this policy.
"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

I never said I did anything! I have never worked in B&Q or similar retail business just have opinion regarding how I think I like to be treated by other people and how I think other people like to be treated in return.

I think it will be a sad time when it becomes acceptable to go around swearing at people. I think manners, polite language and respect are important and I don't think swearing is ever respectful.

Do you also think it is acceptable for children to swear? That is what they do if they hear it from adults.

There are some peopl who are foul mouthed and rude and not the sort of customers a store always wants but customers buy goods and this in turn pays wages.

Fine in principal, but if B&Q were serious about an environmental policy, they could start by requesting that their suppliers do not shrink wrap every product. I bought electrical items (switches and so on). Every single product was shrink wrapped (in some cases, twice) – that’s totally unnecessary. When I was finished with the job, I was left with a bag full of plastic to dispose of.

They could also consider using more environmentally friendly packaging at the tills like paper bags, boxes etc.

I’m sorry, but personally I think it’s just an excuse for them to make more money. Look at it from their point of view, they have saved the costs of buying bags and passed them directly onto their customers with a fair bit of profit on top (you can’t tell me that a thin cr@ppy plastic bag with B&Q written all over it costs 5p or 10p a shot).

As I’ve already eluded to, the final bit that I object to is the fact that the bags are adverts for B&Q. If I have to pay for a bag, it should be of good quality (reusable, not like the rubbish they have) and should not be a walking advert for B&Q.

I also said in another post i made 'Don't get me wrong, iIf you spoke to him nicely then he would be very nice back.'

I don't agree with children swearing and my dad would never swear in front of a child or stand by and let someone else do it but unfortunatly people do and nothing will stop that.

I totally agree, they are getting free advertising whilst making money from it. Aldi's charge for their bags but they are pretty big and decent and can be reused for ages.

Maybe but I'd rather not have them in my store.

Too many people think its ok to be rude to shop staff in order to get what they want.

Shop staff are in many instances treated atrociously by customers. I had a nice customer who apologised for taking such a long time on deciding on her purchase today. I told her it was a pleasure 'cos she was so nice and nice customers are few and far between :D

I agree that swearing at customers is not nice but I can understand how it happens. If you are being sworn at then why shouldn't you swear back? I'm not saying its right and I do not swear at customers but am just asking the question.

The second a customer swears at me or my staff they stop being served and if they do not leave the store as asked then the centre security is called and I have them removed. It is not acceptable and my staff do not get paid enough for the abuse they recieve.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
