Try sending the Sainsbury's manager copies of the receipts for your shopping at Tescos/Asda etc in the interim with an explanatory letter.

You'd need to sue Euro Car Parks.
  • Hi everyone.

I got my first ever parking ticket from UKPC a month ago for not having a valid permit when parking at my sister's apartment. I parked in her designated space as I have done on previous occassions as there are no visitor bays and I have had no problem parking there before. As far as my sister believed, this was fine to do on her road.

As it is my mothers car, she recieved the letter from UKPC yesturday asking for a payment of £50 within 14 days or £90 within the month. I have read previous posts about ignoring and not paying but I don't want to get my mum into trouble and wondered whether it would be best just to pay up and avoid the harrassing letters, seeing as visiting my sister is clearly not allowed where she lives!?

I'm a student so the less I have to pay the better hence why i'd rather pay the £50 than anymore, especially if I ignor the letters and the charge goes up. I feel like there is a massive weight hanging over me with this.

Please offer some suggestions! I am an honest person and clearly I was in the wrong to park there so is it best just to cough up now?
  • Ist suggestion:
    Ignore
    2nd suggestion:
Ignore and do not be frightened by the intimidation letters you'll get. They are designed to convince you that the world will come to an end if you don't pay.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

You didn't get your first ever parking ticket. There's no weight hanging over you, would you feel like that if you got some phishing emails asking you to send some money to Nigeria by Western Union? No, you'd snort with laughter at the extortion attempt and ignore it. Same with this.

This is a scam (bogus ticket). Stop thinking of it like it's a real fine that will go up - there is no fine, it's a made up amount these scammers want you or your Mum to pay.

We deal with these queries every day and everyone who ignores these fake parking tickets just gets sent debt collector letters then the whole scam stops. On the odd occasion there's a phone call or two if the debt collector can get a number for the rgistered keeper - but they can be told where to go as this is NOT a fine, no debt, no case to answer, no Bailiff, no Court and no CCJ.

There is so much info on the internet about private parking tickets - and this scam has been covered on Watchdog TWICE already this year - so please don't think that it's just us saying to ignore it.

Show your Mum these replies and all the links, the letters, the Watchdog programme, she and you will soon 'get' the situation. Don't even think about paying!

The whole MSE parking board is linked below, there are hundreds of current threads just like yours, with everyone ignoring the scammers! Happy reading, you'll find the Watchdog youtube clip on a top thread and also pictures of the exact letter-chain of threats the company and their pet debt collector will send to the registered keeper before they give up:

Consumer Action Group parking board (scroll down to the mustard yellow headings to read threads but don't use the templates, not worth a stamp. Never acknowledge a PPC fake ticket, NEVER appeal):

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...ffic-Offences&

Or just Google 'do I pay a private parking ticket'? that will find results from the forums telling you the score. It really is safe to ignore, we've all done it and it's just a bogus ticket anyway.

Please stop worrying, these fake tickets are meaningless and only useful as paper aeroplanes. Nothing happens to your credit rating and UKPC don't do Court, only mail threats.

Don't believe the letters, relax and tell your friends & family about this scam!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

At what point will HMCS consider them vexations litigants I wonder. Or can a company not be listed as a vexatious litigant? I didn't notice any companies on the list, just individuals...

An update on yesterday's news about OPC. They actually lost three cases in the same court, presided over by the same judge. Well done your Honour!

In other news , somebody over on the CAG is reporting yet another stupid tactic by a PPC. This time they are telling a motorist they they will do a full credit search on them, and the very act of doing that search will damage their credit record. Complete and utter lies of course.

Sorry, I've been away for the past couple weeks, but reference to the watchdog bit a few weeks ago where the PPC said that their 'tickets' didn't look like the proper tickets, the proper tickets must look like their own 'tickets' is laughable.

Look at me I've designed a new mp3 player, no it doesn't look like an iPod, the iPod must look like my new mp3 player :P
