  • I just heard a horror story from a policeman friend of mine who said he went to incident last year where bailiffs were collecting a car from someones house because she did not pay a ppn issued by excel parking for overstaying in one of their 'free' car parks. I have also received an unfair and extortionate ppn from them which I refuse to pay.

can they do that? send bailiffs to collect your car?

Only if the case goes to court, the case is lost and the person refuses (or fails) to pay whatever the judge orders. Only after that complicated procedure can a CCJ be issued. Frankly I don't beleive that policeman. I wonder if he confusing it with a council issued parking penalty notice?

This yet again illustrates how the police are so out of touch regarding private parking "penalties" and clamping.

  • bargepole you seem to be knowledgeable in this area and i request your and every readers advice

my wife parked in a super market car park for 13 minutes longer than permissable. i received a PCN from 'parkingeye' an approved BPA operator, 90 quid or 45 if inside 14 days. According to the forum and MSE thread. I was not the driver (my wife was) but the car is registered to me. Should i ignore completely or respond with the template letter saying i wasn't the driver? and if i respond should i include 'i am under no obligation to inform you of who was driving'?

please help i can't afford 'further increasing charges'.

if i do pay fine/charge it will be by 40-50 different amounted cheques so they incur bank charges for paying in, and that they have to sit down with a calculator to check that they amount to the 45 pound in question. (very disgruntled husband)

Just ignore. As for being an "Approved BPA Operator" don't fall into the trap that the BPA is some sort of official regulator, like OFCOM of OFGEM. They are not, they are just a trade association for the parking "industry", more on the lines of the National Hairdresser' Federation.

  • Help i have recieved a private ticket back in march i have told the company and their solicitors on numerous occasions that i was not the driver of the car. They however say that i am still liable as i own the car and it is my responsability to make sure whoever is driving my car does so properly i have sent them written proof that i was not the driver of the car as i was at work and did not leave but one of my colleagues did however borrow it, and the company and their solicitors are still threatening to take me to court as i won't tell them who was driving. Can they do this

Stop communicating with them, they are only writing to you because they think you will cough up, their invoice is not enforceable, they will not take you to court, you don't owe them anything, you've told them you were not driving, and legally you don't have to inform them who is.

    So simply IGNORE the SCAMMERS!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

No they can't. In addition they are not real solicitors.

Stop all communication with them, the longer you communicate the longer it will continue. Read some threads regarding PPC and you will realise. For the record which company is it?
