Many thanks, do I reply to any of the letters that I recieve? or do I file them in draw 13 (the bin)

You could try this, its a bit rude.

    F
    urther to your letter,
Understandably, i will not be paying this sum.
Charges such as yours cannot be made without certain condisions being met
Kindly supply me with evidence of who was driving

Of course, I will also need evidence that this driver entered into a contract with you
Further, I need details of the nature of this contract
For the avoidance of doubt, I shall make a few things clear:

Such sums are not generally accepted as lawful
Contracts must be proven, and fair
As such, your charge has no legal basis
Many court cases back up my assertations
My money will not be given to you
Every letter you send to me will waste more of your money
    Regards,
Someone who knows how your little scam works.

My wife recently exceeded the time on a prepaid ticket and got a notice from Excel for £100. The notice had photographs of the car entering and leaving the car park with a time. She does recall overstaying. Despite the ridiculous amount of £100 surely it is difficult to ignore this one - or is it?

!!!!!! has the actual amount of money you're NOT liable for got to do with it??

Would it be easier to ignore if it was for £5million, or maybe if it was for 25p???

Your case is no different from the hundreds [thousands by now??] of other private ticket stories on here....have a read.

Legally they're entitled to their actual losses. If she overstayed 10 mins and it cost a pound an hour, they're limited to 10p.

It's a scam. Ignore them and they will go away.

Need to brush up on the maths...

    60 minutes cost - 100p

    10 minutes cost - 16.67p (approx)

However if the land is not theirs then they have suffered no loss and are entitled to nothing.:D

Wow that is so original and so assertive. Martin Lewis could incorporate it as a template letter if he dares!
    If it moves; sue it!

Don't forget not to pay though.

But don't forget to send a blank piece of paper back with a drawing of a cheque on to them, writing it to "Accounts Receivables", forgetting to place a stamp on the letter. They pay Royal Mail thinking it's a lovely cheque only to find out it's worthless :rotfl:
  • You know that the Accounts Receivables is the third filing tray from the left don't you?Or is it the fourth, I forget.

  • I'v just had a Parking charge notice from excel for parking in a retail park car park which there is no charge but I did'nt realise there was a maximum time limit of 1 1/2 hrs which I went over. The thing is this happened on 16/08/10 but i have just recieved the parking charge notice today 16/09/10 which is exactly 1 month ago. Is there a maximum amount of days to which they have to send the notice out?
And do I have grounds for appeal?
    Cheers Stean

First the bad news is no there is no maximum whatsever about sending them to you.

Now the good news, the tickets are completely unemforceable and has no basis in law ;) which means they should be ignored utterly, don't bother apealling as I can give you the outcome now - denied !

Please therefore rest easy they will not take you to court, all you will get are threats to do so, excel are just useless scammers.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
