thanks shortchanged. i've just noticed a post on previous page re another company that also use Roxburghe (or Rox 'bother' as we should call them!), where the reply to the post states that Graham White call up pretending to be Roxbother. I will tell my family to ignore their calls. A new company has now taken over the running of my work car park so i'm sure i'll have fun with them - anyone heard of 'parking control services'? According to the Ts & Cs sent by my company to all staff state they 'reserve the right to clamp any vehicle that has failed to pay a Parking Contravention Charge notice within 28 days of issue'. Looking at some consumer website I found on google, they WILL actually clamp which is a little unnerving...

Highly illegal. No different from me walking into your house and taking your TV because I declare you owe me money.

Clamping is banned in November anyway.

    Hi all,

Just need some quick info. Received a 'Fixed Parking Notice' from our good old friends at national clamps. Long story short, I'm gonna play the game where I just ignore them totally. It was my girlfriends car so all letters go to her and she is a bit scared about it. The only thing I know nothing about is can they pass her details onto a debt collection agency and if so what power do these boys have? Any help/advice/links would be greatly appreciated.

The debt collection agency has the powers to send you lovely 'nasty' letters.

None, well no more than your neighbours cat. They can't affect your credit record.
In theory, they could call on you, but in practice, never do. Just ignore their letters too.

OK sounds good so far what about bailiffs? Can bailiffs only come after court action?

    Cheers

Yes and that almost never happens so no need to worry about that.

  • I parked at Ealing Broadway last March for 2 minutes to change drivers as there were yellow lines in all directions. In July i received a £150 fine. I sent a letter back stating it was unfair and they have dropped it to £75. I am the owner/driver am I still good not to pay the engine was never switched off. I was tamping as if it had been a police fine its not valid after 4 weeks, so I have heard.
    Thank you for the site.

Hi Bob, welcome to MSE :hello:

Was the ticket issued at a railway station? If so, does the ticket make any reference to railway by-laws?

    Who actually issued the ticket?

General advice on here is to simply ignore private parking companies, however, before going down the route of ignoring it, we need to make sure that what you have is definitely a private ticket that has no legal basis and can safely be ignored.
