  • hi i just got an ECP parking fine for 30quid if payed within 14 days or 50 quid if paid after 14 days but before 28 days.I went to my local supermarket / library and as usual car park was full ( vans parked over 2 mother toddler spaces etc )so i parked in an unmarked bay where i had been parking for previous 9 odd months and took my son to library upon return i had a ticket. there was clear signage up but in previous 9 months never was there a parking attendant or fines administered on site. After taking pics of other car flouting the rules with no tickets etc ( parked over 2 spaces parked on half space half white line zone and even spotted spaces with plastic barrier hiding the white lines signifying a space etc, i feel very aggrieved to have received a fine should i pay it?

    1. You have not received a fine. It's not a fine, nor a penalty, just an invoice you can ignore.

    2. Noooo! Of course you shouldn't pay it! I didn't pay my Euro Car Parks ticket and that was over a year ago now. Nothing happens, they just send 3 letters to the registered keeper with bold writing and lies about Court and CCJs. Nothing actually happens, they give up when you ignore them.

    3. There are already at least 2 current Euro Car Parks threads on this board, look here and click and read the responses on those threads:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

If you read the answers given to other people, you will see that you just need to ignore the letters. On the threads on that link you'll also find a 'sticky' at the top, showing you preview pictures of the letters you'll get, and you'll find a link to a recent Watchdog programme where their legal bod correctly told viewers that PPC tickets are trash, and showed everyone that they are useful only to make paper aeroplanes from.

Now make a paper aeroplane out of yours, and do the same with the letters that follow (once you've read the sticky thread 'PPC letters/threads, what to expect' you'll know which letters are due before they arrive and won't worry another second about it all).

Oh, did I say this was a scam? The whole PPC industry is a money-making scam. Just for fun, park there again and laugh at the poor idiot issuing the fake tickets. Sad, sad, sad job to have, worse than a real traffic warden - at least their fines are real.

Another parking company given the boot by both the BPA and the industrial estate that employed them.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

This was the bit that amused me most:-

""We are not a cowboy outfit – there are cowboy outfits out there, but we are not one of them.”"

    Nearly spilt my tea.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Whether the BPA gives the boot to anyone is neither here nor there. They're just a powerless boys club that have no power or reason to exist.

Is this the same site as mentioned in this recent thread (also on pepipoo under Securak/Citywatch):

Sounds the same, deliveryman charged over a grand just after the signs were put up.

I love this bit from their website www.citywatchparking.com/Default.aspx?ID=8

"By parking within the designated signage area the driver automatically enters into an agreement with us to immobilise or remove their vehicle."

Oh my goodness, what tripe they write.
  • Why do people spend so much time discussing the legalities of the tickets?

What they should be really doing on a forum such as this, is helping people to pursue their appeals through the proper channels.

Non-payment is not just obstructive, it's extremely stupid. Why get a CCJ over it?

Thank you for registering your account today, can you just cut to the chase and tell us which PPC you work for? We all know there are no independent appeals process , and the PPC are a bunch of chancers and scammers!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
