Ignore, ignore, ignore.
The answer to any possible follow up or further questions anyone might have wrt private parking companies is exactly the same ie ignore, ignore, ignore.
There is nothing else to discuss - ignore, ignore, ignore.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
""are these people of power"" Only to their Mummies.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

My private parking ticket was from Euro Car Parks.
And Control Account are on the letter-heading of their threatogram letters.
That all happened over a year ago, I ignored them of course, just 3 letters. Nothing happens at all.
The letters are stored safely in my handbag, ready to show friends if the subject of parking crops up. I show those scam letters to anyone who's interested, and of course I still come on here to spread the word, because the whole private parking industry really, really needs to be stopped. Not regulated, stopped.
Anyone who pays a PPC fake ticket is either stupid or uninformed (sorry, 'tis true IMHO). Do not fall for this con, it would be like replying to a phishing email!
chesterlady & lizg1984, see my signature below (BTW neither of you are stupid nor uninformed!). :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I live in an apartment with private parking. I own my apartment part of which has a residential parking space and a visitors. These are controlled with the use of permits to ensure only the residents and their visitors use the car park.
In October I parked my car in my residential bay and by mistake displayed the visitors permit instead of the residential. They have a very small indicator on each permit saying V27b and R27b (27b is my flat number and r and v are resident & visitors)
I woke to find a £80 fine on my car the following morning. I wrote a letter apologising to them and explaining that I had displayed a the wrong permit and this was just a mistake. The space I used for of course MY residential space and therefore cannot be used by anyone but myself so I had caused no disadvantage to anyone.
They sent a standard letter declining my appeal and within 7 days the fine increased to £120. I chose to ignore them after speaking to Barclays Legal Advice line who said that they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
A fortnight ago I got a letter from Roxburghe Debt collectors requesting now £161 so i wrote to them and sent a copy of my original appeal letter.
I now have a letter from Graham White solicitors saying if the money is not paid there will be a court case.
Will this stand up in court - I work as a financial advisor and therefore regulated by the FSA so really important that my credit file is not impaired in anyway.
Can anyone help me or give me any guidance one way or the other?
Thank you Laura0 -
Just ignore it all, they are just scammers, don't reply further to them and they will go away, there tickets are not enforceable in law as they are just invoices, they will not take you to court.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I am a nurse at my local hospital, and have to pay for a 'permit' to allow me to park in a 'staff designated' area on the hospital grounds in order to go to work. I would just like to say that i have done much research into these private parking companies, particularly apcoa and their associates, good old Graham Whites 'solicitors'! Do not be bullied into paying these ridiculous supposed fines, I have successfully ignored a few in my time at the hospital and they really do just leave you alone after a while.
They know they have no legal standing, therefore have no chance of ever winning in court so would never actually summon you to court. As everybody states, the best way is to just totally ignore them. Don't bother with appeals or replies, they will think they you are worried and will pester you more! What does annoy me are the constant phone calls they make. Just refuse to speak to them about the matter and hang up. I have had countless court threats over the years, all of which have amounted to absolutely nothing!!
Anyway, off to work now, see if i can rack up a few more! Ha ha.0 -

Good for you. I trust you are advising all your colleagues to do the same?0 -
My daughter is a staff nurse at the local hospital & also pays for a permit... she's now ignoring her 7th (yep 7th) APCOA drivel.
All have followed the same format & not a court claim in sightAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
It's just been reported on both Pepipoo and the CAG that yet another PPC (Minster Baywatch) have lost a court case. The Judge ruled that there was no actual loss suffered, so no payment was due. Evidently the PPC's tame solicitor was not a happy man. Poor thing! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

IIRC you can insist that they only contact you in writing [assuming you have been mad enough to confirm to them who you are!!!]. If they ignore this you have a case for complaining about them [to the DOJ [again iirc]].
I never ever say who I am on the phone [unless I want to]; even if someone asks 'Can I speak to Mr Oopsadaisy', I merely ask 'Who is calling?' and then if their answer doesn't clarify who they are I ask something to the effect of 'What's it in connection with?'. If they try the old 'We can only discuss it with Mr Oopsadaisy' I say 'Ok, I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you' and hang up.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
