dodgy_dell wrote: »Hi Guys, came across this thread whilst doing a Google search. I've received a Parking charge from the above company yesterday asking me to pay £100 within 28 days or £50 if paid within 14 days because I left the site without my vehicle. To keep it short, I parked up in the car park with every intention to go into Mcdonalds. My Mrs went across the road to purchase something that she spotted from a shop. On getting there she realised that she had left her purse in the car. I took the purse over to her and when I got back to the car, the 'warden' was just in the process of putting the ticket on my car. This was only a matter of a few minutes. After some unpleasantaries, we left Mcdonals as I was not going to purchase anything because of the way we were treated. I have read some posts stating that I should avoid any contact with these people and ignore anything that comes my way. Is this correct and what sort of time period am I looking at before they get off my back. Many thanks in advance.
Depends when they get bored. 6 monthsI all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
PRESS THANKS

Hi MSE'ers! As a lot of you seem to have experienced a similar thing I hope someone can help/ advise me. I recently overstayed my welcome by 14 mins in a Morrisons car park and was caught on cctv entering and leaving the car park and have received a PCN from a company called Athena. Looking around the site it seems that the best advice is to just ignore the fine? Has anybody experienced this with Athena and what would you recommend I do. Thank you very much in advance.0

Yes, ignore them completely
There are plenty of Athena threads here:

As the driver would be the one who parked the car and the ticket was sent to the RK and its not always the RK who parks, its not possible for the anpr to say who was driving, nor can dvla.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Tell Morrisons what you think of them.0 -
Hi - I have just received a parking charge notice from Total Parking Solutions on behalf of Homebase Stores in Edinburgh for parking in their car park (which they sate is their client's private property). They want £70 if I do not pay it before 21 June 2010 or £45 if I pay it now. They say I was there for 2 hrs 24 mins and they have photographic evidence. I was in fact in their store and pruchased goods and happened to meet two friends whom I spoke to for a while, so I may have been in the store for that amount of time - I don't know, I wasn't constantly looking at my watch and was certainly not aware of a time limit! What should I do? I would also like to know how they got my address from the DVLA - does the data protection act not prevent this?0

No, is the answer to your last question, you agree to this when you register your car etc.
Regarding the payment/begging letter please see the 80 other pages on this thread regarding ignoring them and their fictitious charges. Any charges they would be entitled to would be the same as the cost of parking for the first 2 hours (assuming free parking for 2 hours) which is ?????????I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Do the dvla not have data disclosure policies to abide by? or can any old fining firm call up give a vehicle registration and the dvla will provide the name and address of the owner?

Anyone can get the details providing they give ""reasonable""cause and the £2.50 of course. All ppc's can get the details either directly or by buying it from another ppc, eg Ranger services.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Anybody can buy anybody's address, if you've got £2.50.
The law says you have to demonstrate "reasonable cause". In reality this just means "any old excuse you can think of".
I wouldn't be surprised if they'll give the address wrote this on the form: "I saw the aforementioned Ferrari and though the owner must be worth burgling."0
