After months of waiting the Mac has finally come. So looks like things are now moving on at E7. I have also had no connection problems recently.

Thinking of going to Eclipse or Newnet as they seem reasonable on most aspects and have been praised on this site. Although I do not know if Newnet has figured on the two big review sites. Eclipse was in ISP review's top 10 last week. Its a balance of price and quality of service. I rarely if ever download so I am assuming the so called lite packages from ISPs would be OK. I do however browse more or less daily. The E7 battle has taught us to be so cautious... rabbits in dazzled headlights come to mind.

I haven't had a connection for nearly a month now. Before that I had a connection for about 10 days but it went off for two weeks before that. I did get a MAC code three days after I emailed them in the 10 day period when I was online. However it has been rejected by BT.

I have had to go on (and pay for) a dial up connection in the meantime and today had to send several files.

When I came off the line I found E7even had called around 4 pm and left a message on the phone again as if it had nothing to do with them but was the way I had connected (or not) to the internet. It also gave me the 0905 number to call when I have paid for the 0800 number.

However ringing up the 0800 number tonight I find they have changed the message giving working hours. It's reasonable to assume E7even is doing a quick sticking plaster job while OFCOM is on the case. However I have tried my broadband connection again and it doesn't work.

I don't think it is so much being "dazzled by the headlights". It shows the total ineffectiveness of the regulators, who give the impression that they are more intent on protecting the company concerned, that this situation has been allowed to happen since December.

It may be now the so-called "regulators" are allowing E7even retrospectively to dot a few token i's and cross a few token t's to let them get off scot free. While the economic effect on the users is ignored. I hope not, but that is certainly the impression I am getting.

Since I re-joined E7even last November, I now have to have all my money back including what I paid for the helpline and upgrade and, by rights, I should have the money for the dial up connection refunded by E7even as well and the regulators should see to that and that I get a working MAC code.

If we are pushed instead into "going to court", then close down the regulators and trading standards and everyone working there should lose their jobs, And we should be given the money by the authorities to "go to court". Because it doesn't make sense to have trading standards/OFCOM and the courts doubling with each other.

Meanwhile I am still stuck without a working MAC code. Also when E7even called between 9 and 5.30 pm, they must know that many people are at work. It seems to me there is a lot of cashing in done on the premium rate numbers still for E7even. But it's the regulators which allow a three month + situation to happen and I don't see the point of either them or trading standards being paid for having offices if nobody does anything for this length of time and people are still left high and dry.

Blimey - how many weeks (months?) ago had you raised a problem with them ?
I have to say that for the last week or so I've had a perfect connection - this is the first time this year that I have had !

    Hello

with all the info about E7 taking unauthorized payments I thought I'd check my statements. I joined E7 back in may 2005 on a 2 year deal for £240..... but when I checked back that far I see they also took a payment for £69 on the same day. I've asked E7 to refund this but have not yet heard back.

I wonder if anyone here who joined at about the same time also got this £69 taken from thier account and what is it for?

If there is any substance in this report , it looks like things may be coming to a head for E7 and their customers.

If any of you paid by credit card, it may be worth you gathering as much info as you can over the poor service of this company. If E7 go under, the only way you may get any refund of your money could be through your CC.

Also intesting to note that I am getting no recognition of my User ID from their site this evening having to use BT dial up again. Has the end come?
    Hopefully just coincidence...
