Just to let you know that a very disheartened islandman is still without internet access, and is still waiting for a phonecall from e7even.

I paid two years up-front but would gladly forget that investment if only I had the information/knowhow how to get surfing again via any other isp. If I've understood previous posts, I can do nothing without the "mac code/address" but if e7even don't contact me, what do i do ?

I may be repeating myself, but ofcom state I have to be without service for 12 weeks before they can/will do anything.

"IF" the comment that Tiscali may have taken over from e7even, should we be bombarding tiscali with plea's to get us going again ?, before anyone jumps on me for mentioning "other subject matter", please ask yourself "what would you do if YOUR provider went awol. It is all to easy to type away if you have no problems with connection, but for heavens sake, please show a little give and take, not just for me, but anyone else that dares to stray off subject, WE ARE GETTING DESPERATE FOR HELP!

Don't contact Tiscali, they haven't taken over E7. The last time this rumour surfaced, Tiscali were contacted by a large number of disgruntled E7 users without any joy - I'm sure Tiscali weren't very happy about this.

If you cannot contact E7 by the methods I suggested, then I suggest you now take the steps I suggested to recover your money.

    I'm back with an update:-

    *No connection again today.

*Phoned talktalk who would be happy to take me on but I must request mac code from e7even.

    *emailed e7even requesting mac code.

    * added that I wish to terminate with e7even.

    * phoned credit card company and registered my concern. I have to put it in writing.

    * phoned tiscali, no they haven't taken over e7even.

So, that's me up-to-date. I know I've repeated what has been said before and thanks to those who have contributed. If one did a search through this and other sites, it is my bet that almost every isp would have both complaints and praise, irrespective of how much or little one pays per month. At the end of the day, it is the luck of the draw, after all, I had NO problems with e7even untill they increased the speed. I will continue to view emails and this site at the library and watch with interest.

  • To my utter astonishment I had an email from e7even on Friday with my MAC and a promise to process compensation when I confirm to them that I have migrated away. Of course I haven't had a chance to see if it works yet but this was after no service and no response to any attempt at communication since mid Jan.
This can only have happened as a response to intervention by Andrew @ ADSL guide as it came to an address I have never used in direct correspondence with e7even so thanks again Andrew.

E7 emailed me this, I don't believe it, since I already have paid the money in November 2005 for an upgrade to 4Mbs, this should of taken place in December 2005. Now they seem to be sending an email and asking for money which they already taken.

    Dear xxxxxx,

We have checked your line for ADSL MAX availability and this is what the
    BT checker responded with:

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates
that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that
provides a line rate up to 1Mbps. However due to the length of your line
the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible,
    supply the broadband service.

Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a
potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 3Mbps or greater.
The actual ADSL Max line rate supportable will be determined during the
first 10 days of use, after which time the highest stable rate possible
    will be set.
If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to
confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.
    Thank you for your interest.

This means your line should be able to support up to 3Mbps - 8Mbps once
ADSL MAX is fully available in your area. BT will install the ADSL MAX at
the fastest speed they possibly can and then over 10 days monitor the line
and reduce the speed accordingly, if needed, until you have a stable
    connection.

If you would like to place an advance order for this upgrade, you can do
so now for a limited time at just £19 - standard re-grade prices will be
reverted to after offer expires on the 13th April 2006. You can also
purchase an ADSL MAX capable Ethernet/USB modem router at a discounted
rate of just £29 if you choose to place your order now.

    https://www.e7broadband.com/cgi-bin/maxr.cgi?username=xxxx

We anticipate that we will be able to place your ADSL MAX order with our
network provider within the next 4-5 weeks.

    Kind regards

Yes I got a similar email - I have no idea what the ongoing costs would be - I have emailed them to find out. I wonder if I'll get the reply before I get a reply to my outstanding emails from weeks ago ?

  • My E7even MAC arrived out of the blue yesterday.

I'm migrating to Zen 8000 Active which, though not cheap, has a very good reputation etc... Plus it's on a 1 month rolling contract so I'm free to move in the autumn once the market has settled down a bit following the Talk Talk product launch and all the speed upgrades etc..

My parents were also with E7even and managed to migrate at the time of the amnesty. They're now on Madasafish.

Just need to pursue the refunds now (oh joy!) :o

"Persue" Jim ? that's a laugh, by emailing them or phoning them? Currently I am at my son's house using his comp, less stress here. Just popping off to see if they've oblidged with the mac code, after all, it's been five hours since I asked them!
