He wouldn't have been allowed. But under the guise of a forum alias, if anyone (e.g. his employers) tried to identify him, then I wouldn't fancy their chances.
Plus if e7 were reselling Tiscali then BT Wholesale wouldn't have a clue as to who they were, as they wouldn't be a BTW customer, as they're Tiscali's. That said, if they were BTW's customer in the past, then fair enough. I think the sudden change may have been brought about when e7 realised that they have to resell their broadband for more money than they were paying for it. Something to do with "profit", or something.0 -

Every forum logs the IP address postings are made from - if they were made to release this information, e.g. by court order, it wouldn't be difficult to trace the physical address of the poster through the ISP's records.0 -
Frying pan and fire spring to mind here.0

If E7 have actually gone bust, although it would be no surprise to many of us, I am surprised that an employee of BTW has been allowed to release this commercially sensitive information. There are also strict controls imposed by the regulator regarding the denigration of competitors services by BT employees.
I apologise if I sound a little sceptical, but a very similar thread was started recently on ADSLGuide's forum - which turned out to be a complete fabrication. E7even's website still seems to be accepting new subscribers, and there does not seem to be anything posted at Companies House regarding any change to their trading status.
Its not sensitive information, as part of the BTW Ofcom team we've been informing customers of this very situation thanks.
Im trying to help out people here, see if they can get a solution but if this is whats faced everytime i do that then id rather not waste my time to be honest.0 -

More seriously, they provided a good service this time last year - probably trying to build up a user base in advance of wholesale price reductions but over-cooked it.
When I joined up, I thought they were probably just about breaking even on the costs, and probably making a few quid on the interest from me paying up front. The odd day off-line here and there I could live with, but not the several months of variable service and certainly not the "have you entered your name and password correctly" responses to my detailed fault reports.
Bottom line: they screwed up - no problem with that, even I've been known to make the odd mistake (LOL); then panic set in - not acceptable in my (IT) world...0 -

I was just pointing out that similar information has been posted before, as early as the beginning of January. What you are saying may well be true, I'm not saying that it isn't - but I would like to see this confirmed by a reliable source. There are many E7even subscribers on ADSLGuide who have been in touch with both BTW and OFCOM, and none of them have been told this.
I cannot agree that this sort of information is not sensitive, particularly if a company is planning to take on an existing customer base. Even if a company is still trading, explicit statements likenormanmark wrote:ill check the issue tomorrow at work & see whose taking over e7evens traffic, but they've definitely gone bust0 -

are likely to affect a company's relationships with it's suppliers. An ISP without suppliers will go bust.
Apologies then, you certainly came across as you was having a go! when all i was doing was trying to help!
Some that have got through to the final stage of the ofcom process would have been told this, dependant on their line & why they cant move from their ISP.
But you're taking it a bit OTT with the whole 'loose customers' etc. If it makes you feel better ill just not bother helping out as & when i can0 -

I'm sure that any further information you can find out will be well received the large number of unhappy E7 customers on here. I'm just surprised that if E7 has actually ceased trading, the news hasn't yet been made public.0 -
I just checked the e7 website - no updates there for 4 weeks !
New and existing customers can only buy 1 month contracts now.
I guess that the Tiscali rumours could be true !To infinity and beyond!0
