help needed my daughter 17 is going to paris she needs a prepaid travel card were can I get one as they all say you have to be 18yrs old thanks

Caxton Prepaid allow you to have a secondary cardholder of 16 and over.
  • Anyone tried one of these with a bookmaker as an alternative to a regular debit card or Skrill? Do they accept them? Can you get a withdrawal loaded onto them?

    Thanks.

I've got a question about prepaid debit cards issued by American banks. I'm an American citizen, living in France. There's an American company soliciting for investors here; they are promising that anyone who invests will be given a prepaid debit card, issued by an American bank, that will allow them to access their funds at any time. It's my understanding that under the so-called Patriot Act, American banks can only issue debit cards to people with U.S. citizenship and/or a physical mailing address in the United States. So how could French citizens living in France get a debit card from a U.S. bank?

Welcome, but ... I'd be very surprised if you can get a reliable answer to this on a UK forum ...

I don't know a huge amount but thats rubbish. I'm not a US citizen, have no US mailing address and have a US debit card (as well as a credit card).
  • My wife is going to Colombia. Is a prepaid card suitable? What other options should we consider?

    Thanks

  • I have a Pockit card.

I have just noticed that there seems to be a Foreign Exchange Fee of 4.00%

There is a lot of this on the internet. Search for "U.S. bank account debit card for non-residents" without the quotes and you'll see what I mean. Most of these are paid services which say they open an account for you and not offered directly by any U.S. bank that I can find.

Most French banks are very approachable by non-residents living in an E.U. country. If resident in France there should not be any difficulty at all in opening a French bank account.
