I wonder if it's the weather making us eat (we are not programmed to diet when it is cold!)? I spent most of yesterday bingeing too - left over cake and choccie biccies at work (still, at least it didn't affect the budget!). I hope all those who have 'lost it' get it back soon. Keiss 21 well done for losing without exercise - it's not easy.
The budget got blown anyway - I picked up some bargain bucket type coated chicken for tea but by the time I got home my husband was there roasting an oven ready, stuffed with herbs chicken (£8 for something that looked like it had definitely not stopped growing). He got a bottle of wine too. Not that I'm complaining - it was lovely and welcome after weeks of more or less abstinence. The only good point budget-wise is with all this bingeing I haven't been having all my fruit so can add that back on!
Yesterday:
Bfst: banana
lunch: 1/2 can sardines on toast. Some bread and butter.
Tea: roast chicken roast veg, sugar snap peas.
Snack: - stodge at work++
budget £2.37 for the day (£4.87 if you count the wine, which I'm not going to for theory's sake) leaving £1.05 plus the fruit = £1.60
On a more positive note we got out and did a lovely country walk in the snow today - found local footpaths we didn't know existed. We wouldn't have known where they go in normal conditions but it was easy following all those snowy footsteps - we were out for over 2 hours.
Today (plan): egg+salmon on toast, mushrooms. 1/2 tin sardines on toast. channa massala rice.Popsy0 -
Thanks purpleorc. :T I've moved recently so we had to switch to another practice, just need to find the time to pop in and have a proper chat with the doctor over the IBS.
The old doctor was a bit of a pain tbh, I remember once at 15 going in to see her about a knee problem and she was obsessed by the fact that I wasn't on the pill! I think she just had a fixation with getting people to take pills for a quick fixMy stepmum pretty much begged me not to take any as she was given anti-depressants at 15 and now is completely reliant on them
Managed to do an hour on the Wii Fit but still feeling pretty flabby, going to weigh myself on it next thursday and see how I've been doing.
Todays food:
Breakfast: Beans on toast (1 slice of HM bread)
Lunch: HM Lentil and carrot soup with another slice of bread
Dinner: HM Quorn Curry with Rice
Snacks: 1 alpro-soya peach yogurt, 2 crackers with cottage cheese
suzid - About the tea/coffee thing I think on average instant coffee has around 60-100 milligrams of caffeine in it compared to about 30-40 in cups of tea so that might have something to do with it, but I'm not an expert so you'll have to check those figures!Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time0 -
wyrdsister Your welcome. Just might be light at the end of the tunnel for your IBS. You telling me that your mum is now reliant on anti depressants reminds me how doctors use to dish out diazepam (Valium) like smarties  . It is a very good drug if used correctly. Then in the 1980's they decided to take people off the drug due to the dependency on it. Well I was a student nurse at the time on a psychiatric admission ward. There were big burly men brought to tears and begging for the drug. It was really upsetting to see and something that was etched on my memory. This was all due to the misuse of drugs. Your step mum has been in the same boat with a different drug which need not have been prescribed.
I forgot earlier to put down my menu for the day
Breakfast flaxseed and cereal
lunch out for lunch today
dinner carrot and coriander soup
snacks fruit, yoghurt, oat muffin
Not the most healthiest menu today with going out. But hopped back on the waggon afterwards if that counts for anythingStuggling to do exercise at the minute due to having no energy. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some and able to do some. Need to sit down now and prepare tomorrows menu and use something out the store cupboard or freezer as well.

Good morning
Feeling much better today, thank you RS and Retiredlady for your words of support, it really means a lot and gave me a lift when I read them this morn.
I have noticed that Saturdays are "down" days for me, don't know why, I look forward to the weekend, but when it comes I go all lethargic and miserable. DS made me toast and coffee so I didn't have to face the fridge, and then I realised I had nearly run out of time so had to get my skates on and walk to Mr T to buy fruit. I made an Eton mess using frozen forest fruits, and a plum crumble. Both were very well received. I was looking for jelly but as a veggie only use the crystals but my local store didn't have any. Think Asda have them but it was too late to go. Got very stressed making the puds, as I hadn't left enough time and sure enough we were very late, but once we got there had a lovely evening. Friends made veggie lasage, lots of corgette, mush, aubergine etc, very nice. I feel very guilty for all the stuff I put my family through with my moods. I shall get dressed shortly and head off out somewhere to stop today being a write off. Have a good Sunday everyone.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Good morning
recovering spendaholicSorry did not see your question last night when reading over the posts. I would not say I have crack this weight loss I think I am always going to have to be mindful as it it is so easy to slip back into my bad habits that got me to the weight I was.
I did the weight loss myself and didn't have any weight loss surgery. I watched a programme on television called "half tonne hospital" and I could see that I was travelling down that road. I am a private person and the though of having to break down a wall to get me out of my home was scary  The threat of hospital is always there with MS if you have a severe enough attack. My mobility was deteriorating at a fast pace of knots so I think it was the kick up the backside I needed. So off to the INTERNET I went and read like crazy. Then devised a programme that I could live with for the rest of my life. I realised that the weight to stay off I had to eat properly for the rest of my life.
I am no :A so I do have treats along the way. I try to leave space every day in my programme for something sweet but low fat and calories. Some are shop bought sweet treats and others are home made gleaned off the INTERNET.
I have to make a packed lunch shortly to take with us tomorrow. I do not get going very well in the morning so I don't leave much till then to do. My husband and I are going to Bognor Regis to do a delivery for his brother. I am not really looking forward to this trip with it being such a long one. Ones that are shorter are more pleasurable as I see all over the place and there are some really stunning places (houses) we have delivered to. Not that I get out the van to see inside but I do see outside.
Todays quick entry is turning into an essay  I am terrible for that typing 100 words when 10 would have done  Todays food is:-
breakfast cereal with flaxseed
lunch bubble and squeak with vegetable burger
dinner ham sandwich
snacks fruit, cuppa soup , nuts and of not forgettingchocolate pudding that got my name on it
Time to wash those breakfast pots. I don't think I will be around for a couple of days but if at all possible I will drop by to make a little entry. Take care all and catch up with you soon

Hya folks,
What a lot of people with IBS!
I developed IBS when I was staying in Holland. It was triggered mainly by stress (I was very lonely for a while), but I also had severe gastroenteritis soon after we got back from a Christmas trip to Thailand, Singapore and the Maldives. I was tested for everything under the sun (including cancer), but it was only after we got back to the UK a year and a half later that my doctor diagnosed IBS, and he put me on the F plan diet (it was1988!). I tend to have a high fibre diet these days and I am fine, unless I have too many nuts!
taplady - I use Provamel (organic & unsweetened - the red carton) soya milk. I don't tend to drink it on it's own, just have it on my cereals/porridge. I don't drink tea or coffee ever, so I don't know if it curdles in hotdrinks or not! It makes cheese sauce ok, though I usually use dried milk powder for that. I do make yummy yoghurt at home using the Easiyo system, starting with a plain soya yoghurt from the heatlth store near us. I find using soya milk helps with my asthma a lot and keeps the amount of catarrh in my lungs down. My dad has even started with soya milk and he has greatly improved catarrh-wise. My neice (8) uses So Good I think. She has a dairy and nut intolerence, both internally as well as on her skin. She drinks it on its own as well as with cereal.
I had a bad day yesterday, and spent most of it in bed. As a result I am really sore today and had to get up at 7.30am...I was quite dopey too, but had to try and get moving. Hopefully today I will feel a bit better. At least I didn't eat much yesterday - good for losing weight at least!
Anyway, food for today:
B: Porridge make with soya milk and water, raisins; & OJ
S: HM bread toasted with low fat marg, SatsumaBaked potato with tuna, toms and cucumber
S: Banana
T: ? possibly gammon, if DH can get some hocks (making soup later!)
S: SF jelly and fruit if I make some NOW!
Hope you have a good Sunday...we are actually above zero outside and the snow is starting to go!
Talk again, perhaps tomorrow

lunch: reduced fat sausage, cauli, sprouts, mash
dinner: will try and make good choices and avoid pud if i'm out, if not it will be sandwich or somthing on toast (poached egg probably)

B - 2 slices toast and jam(big bread:eek: )
L - roast dinner(no meat) and a yorkshire with gravy
S - small piece lemon swiss roll
D - not sure but have got my eye on a couple of crumpets

Hi all, evening update. Snowing here again, just when it had started to clear up! Had a not terribly OS day nor a very good day foodwise. I did manage to go out and get a new fitness "game" for my Wii, oh my word it's punishing!
Breakfast: Soya yogurt, Museli
Lunch: HM Lentil soup
Dinner: Frozen Vegetable Pizza  and salad.
Snacks: big handful of dried fruit.
OH decided to "cook" and managed to put a couple of pizza's in the oven...I did have to turn it on for him though :rotfl:
I put half the pizza on my plate (not a very massive one) and had a nice big mix of cabbage, lettuce, peppers, cucumber, carrot and tomato. I scoffed that first and hoped I might be too full for the whole half of pizza, sadly I was wrong. Decided to leave the rest for dinner tomorrow but I started getting tempted about 10 minutes later, so OH kindly offered to eat the rest so I let him, temptation gone now at leastReal stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time0
